my baby refuses to nap in the swing - I'm not sure if that's a good or bad thing. she'll nap in her crib, bassinet or on my bed (with me there)..or in her bouncer now. but that swing was expensive, man!!

I say use it if she loves it!

E is 5 months and we still let him nap in the swing sometimes. He's in daycare during the week, but on weekends he always takes his first nap in the swing and we get 2-3 hours out of him. Since he naps horribly at daycare and it's a fight to get him to nap in the afternoons I'm just glad he's getting that extra sleep in the morning.

LO took some great naps in her swing, I loved that thing. At about 3 1/2 months we started weaning her off of the swing, and into her crib and we were done with the swing a little after 4 months. main reason was because we were going to travel with her, so I figured it was a good time to start getting her used to napping in a crib.

We stopped using our swing around 4/5 months-when she was able to start to roll over. She doesn't sleep in it anymore either.

They grow out of it, at one point we'd moved the swing into out bedroom for her to sleep in at night we were so desperate for some sleep. Now at 7 months, she's napping and sleeping through the night in her crib. She just got there on her own, they will let you know when they are ready for something new.

My son slept in his swing for virtually every nap from birth to 4 months. He was not (and still is not) a good napper unless in the car or swing. He took killer naps in his swing though! He's 5 months and sometimes out of desperation I go to the swing but now he rarely sleeps longer in the swing than he would otherwise sleep in his crib.

DD was 3.5 months by the time she stopped taking naps in the swing. I think her longest nap in it was like 6 hours!

We stopped the swing at 4 months against my personal requests. I would have left him there until he was past the size limit as much as possible.

I only stopped putting her in the swing at about 10 weeks, when the swing would stimulate her rather than make her sleepy. That was also around the time i started a schedule and worked on getting her to nap in her crib.

I really think that in the beginning, you gotta do what you gotta do. Especially if they are having problems sleeping. Your LO is still young so don't worry too much!

My LO sleeps in a pack n play at night but loves to sleep in the swing during the daytime. I read that we shouldn't become dependent on motion for her to get to sleep but she's not even 6 weeks yet, so I'm just ignoring that. She sleeps ok, it keeps her slightly upright which I think is good for her since she's hard to burp and miiight have reflux (calling ped tomorrow) and she even wakes up and falls back asleep on her own in it (sometimes.) However I did read that some people have much older LOs that still refuse to sleep anywhere but the swing.

So, for mamas who have swing loving babies... how long is too long to be napping in the swing?
