I was in labor 12 hours in total. I was dilated to 10 cm by 3 pm and my son was born at 8 pm. Non medicated/non intervention birth, just over 7 pounds, I was pushing on my side and also kneeling.

I went from 3 cm to 10 cm in two hours, and before I got the epi I was bearing down. She was a +3 station when I got it - then the OB had me labor down for 30 minutes before starting to push. She would have FLOWN out had we not, and I still ended up with 2nd degree tears. I'm so glad for that epi!

Once I started pushing, it was about 20 minutes. She was 7 lb 10 oz. (18.75 inches long)

I had 5 bearing down contractions then said I felt like I needed to push, 6 minutes later (just long enough for 1 contraction) and 1 push later DD was born. She was 6 lb 1 oz. Had I started pushing with my "pushing contractions" I probably would've pushed "longer" b/c my body wouldn't have brought her down on its own.

About 45 minutes. DS was 7 lbs 4 oz. Nobody would have told me at the time, but apparently my first few pushes were good. After that, I didn't make much progress until probably 10 minutes before he came out.

I was induced and 29 hours after the balloon catheter was placed, I started pushing. It took me 2.5 hours to push out Benjamin, who was sunny side up, and 23 minutes later, Patrick was born after 3 pushes. Thank god for my epidural!!

Benjamin was 5 lb 10 oz and Patrick was 5 lb 4 oz.

I had a long labor, but thankfully, the pushing was only 20 minutes long, and it passed by so fast. I had to hold off and wait for the doctor to arrive or else I would've just pushed him out right then and there! =P My baby boy was 7lbs 11oz.

First (and only) baby, pushed for 1.5 hours. 7 lbs 3 oz. I was only at the hospital for 1.5 hours before pushing and was at 8 cm when I arrived.

ETA: I had my first contraction around 11p, arrived at the hospital at 5:15a, and delivered my son at 8:08a. I was unmedicated, so I pushed in all sorts of different positions, which really worked with gravity to help move him down. Some on my back, some while squatting and holding the bar at the end of the bed, some while kneeling on the bed and resting my upper body on the raised head of the bed. The OB who delivered was shocked that I made so much progress so quickly, and I attribute that to not pushing on my back the whole time.

My water broke around 2pm, contractions started getting uncomfortable around 4:30, started pushing around 7ish, and he was born at 9:50 pm.

I got an epidural around 8cm, which slowed things down a bit, otherwise I think he would have been out pretty quick. I was very happy to labor down for a while and take a break from all of the pain. Pushing took a long time because of the effective epidural, they had to turn it off and let it wear off for a while so I could push better.

He was 6 lbs 11 oz, but I'm fairly small, so I think he ran out of room when my water broke.

I dialated from 1 to 7 cm in 5 hours. I got the epi at about 8 pm fully dialated by midnight. Contractions werent getting closer than 3 mins apart so I was given oxytocin to speed it up. It had the reverse effect so contractions got as far as 8 mins apart. Start pushing on my back at 4 am and she was born at 8 am.

@Minnie_Girl: I was in active labor for about 10 hours when I started pushing (and early labor for about 20 hours before that). I was on my back, but the bed was reclined at about a 45 or so degree angle (I couldn't be flat on my back) so I did have some gravity on my side. My epidural stopped working about an hour and a half into pushing. I was also Exhausted. By the time he came out I had been awake for most of 36 hours (which some brief cat naps while the epidural was working).

Oh and TG was 6.14 and I was in labour for 7 hrs before the hour of pushing. I was so tired that they really had to pep talk me to push well (an hour of sleep that night). I pushed squatting and holding onto a bar over the bed, but keep collapsing down between contractions. I tore hard.

WB was 7.8 and I was in labour for 5 hours (2 hous "active labour") and pushed her out in two minutes. I was kneeling in a birthing tub. One tiny stitch.

I pushed for over an hour and a half and then had to get an emergency c-section after all that crap. LO was 8lb 2oz.

An hour with my first and two minutes with my second. Wonder Baby was almost a lb bigger so I would vote that size had nothing to do with it, the second baby is just often easier. I think the time you spend pushing has to do with the position of the baby and how tired the mother is.
