We didn't decide though. DS just one day refused the high chair and never went back. We offered the booster we had been given when our friend moved and he took to it. Then this week at almost 4 yo, he refused the booster and it seems he is fine. When DD2 (big sister was about 2) was ready to start solids we only had a bar height table with 2 chairs so for a long time DD1 stood at the table with her learning tower, DD2 used the booster, I used the other chair and DH had to use a bar stool lol when we finally got a new table DD1 was about 2.5. She just sits in a regular chair and DD2 (18 months) sits in a booster. My girls are 23.5 months apart. DD1 sat in her chair until DD2 was eating solids, then we got her a booster and put DD2 in the high chair. My oldest could have sat in it for years, but she also didn't need to, so it felt wasteful to buy a second. We also have a travel high chair (Inglesina fast chair) that my second used for a month or two until the booster came in for big sis. We got both the high chair and a Portable 3-in-1 booster for my baby shower. We moved our then 2 year old to a space saver booster on a bar stool while I was pregnant because it was so hard picking her up to put her in the hook on one. When we moved I got a cheap IKEA highchair for baby and the now 3 year old still sits in the booster. It's come in handy when we have a friend with a baby over and we need two high chairs too. She just sits in a regular chair, or at our kid table next to the kitchen table. I'd love for her to be contained but she isn't having it. My older daughter probably used the booster seat portion (no tray) from 2.5 until 3.5. I know once the 4 year old is done the 2.5 year old will be too and he eats better contained. Also wanted to add that we put my younger DS in the high chair before he started solids. Although this wasn't my choice, I would have kept him confined longer but it was too much fighting. Now LO2 is 6 months and is in the high chair and LO1 is in the space saver booster or just a regular chair when we are out and about. I am not sure if we really needed 2 but since the second is easy to travel with I think it was a good to get. We bought a second one ( girls are 18 months apart) because they had one on a good price. Dd1 is 3 and still occasionally uses it, mostly with messy or headset to eat meals where I want it right in front of her. At 3, she doesn't need it, but sometimes it's easier! But right now at 16 months, I don't see an end in sight where she wouldn't be in the high chair for meals....So when LO2 is 6 months and ready for solids LO1 will be 2.5.....will she be done with the high chair by then??
