LO is 13.5 months, and we still use it...especially on days when there's been so much snow on the sidewalks that it's hard to push the stroller through! She's only 18 lbs, so it's not too bad yet. I hope we keep using it for quite a while!

LO is 14.5 months (and about 22lbs) and we still use the Ergo all the time! He generally loves to snuggle and it's a nice break for him. We use it for walking the dog a lot as well.

Just used our boba with our 12 month old walker on a road trip. Got two hour+ naps with it that we wouldn't have gotten otherwise!

Wow! I wish K liked being in the Ergo more, but she is really squirmy and always wants to flip out backwards when I wear her these days (10 months). I was just thinking that once she can start walking, there's no way she'd be willing to stay in the Ergo anymore.

@Mrs. Twine: Yes! Definitely a good workout, how I finally shed the rest of the baby weight after he hit a year old.

Also like you said, perfect for places where strollers won't work- when I pick up furniture at Ikea, I usually wear him so I don't have the flat cart and the stroller at the same time. Also it's perfect for thrift stores, which usually have aisles that are way less than a foot wide. I really miss wearing him lately, although his skills of following me and listening to instructions have improved quite a bit since I've been having him walk more.

I love several things about wearing toddlers/preschoolers. One is that they are right up where speaking to them is easy. You are sharing the same approximate field of vision, and can talk to one another the way you might talk to someone who's walking along next to you at your height. Another is that it is an excellent workout, that increases over time. Kids grow and get heavier, and your body can adapt to carrying that extra weight. And moving around with some extra poundage can be a great workout. I walked our snowdrifts today with Lorelei (most of the snow was only about ankle deep (but crusty), but some was mid-calf or more) and worked up a nice sweat and got my heart rate up. Another is the portability and the off-road nature. I can stick a wrap in my bag easily, and have it around whether I need it or not. If I was going to carry around a stroller (we've never owned one) I would make darn sure I was going to be using it before I committed to carrying it around with me. Also, if I'm using a stroller there are some places it's harder, if not impossible, to navigate. With a carrier I'm not nearly as limited. I can go through deep snow, over logs, down hills, whatever.

If I wasn't a billion years pregnant, I would still be using it at 2 years and 30 pounds with my toddler. My back just can't handle it right now, while it's usually comfortable to wear, I'm just not confident that I can stand and wear him safely with this belly.

Wow, I'm impressed by all you mama's! We stopped using the Ergo or Boba wrap regularly way before she was 1. It just wasn't convenient. Like if we went to the grocery store it's easier for her to just sit in the cart. Or we take strollers for walks and stuff. I don't think she'd like to be in the carrier because she's so squirmy anyway. Also, I never figured out how to use the Ergo on my back when I'm by myself so I never used it that way. Kinda sad because it's not cheap and now it's collecting dust in a closet.

Still occasionally at almost 20 months although now he is getting almost too heavy. We don't use it all the time but for moments (like walking dog, or perhaps a busy airport) it can be a good backup. I would use it first and see if your LO will tolerate it now.

LO is almost 16 months and the last time we used her Ergo was when we traveled internationally at 11 months. She wasn't walking then and enjoyed snuggling in the Ergo. Now, she's a bundle of energy and loves walking. We are going on a cross country 5 hour flight next week and I'm wondering if I should bring it.

Have you used it with an active toddler?
