I was so fortunate to only labor, start to finish for 9 hours. The first two I wasn't even aware that it was the real deal. In fact, the whole day is a blur but there were probably other indicators that I just didn't see so it might have been longer. I wasn't in severe pain/active labor until about 4 hours in. So, I'd say active labor was only 6 hours.

36 hours from first contraction to baby. The first 24 hours wasn't bad. All the 'stuff' happened like lost mp, had bloody show, contractions getting closer and water breaking, but pain was very manageable. I had baby 12 hours after my water broke but pain was so much more intense after water breaking. But then she only took 20 min of pushing to be born.

With my first, my water broke at 1am, no contractions until 2am, drug intervention was not stopping labor, painful contractions at 3am, fully effaced at 4.30am, epidural at 5.30am, starting pushing at 7am and baby out at 8.15am.

With my twins, water broke at 1am. Painful contractions were slow in coming - they got me started on pitocin at 5am to speed things up and painful contractions began at 5.30am. Epidural at 7.30am. Wheeled into OR at 9.40am and naturally delivered baby A at 9.55am and baby B at 10am.

Mine started around 1:30am and when we got to the hospital around 5am I was already 4-5 cm dilated. I got the epidural around 7am and waited around until 2:30pm. Pushed for about 50 minutes and baby was here! It was definitely painful before the epidural and when they told me it would only get worse I decided to get it. I do have to say that the recovery process afterward has not been fun!

Mine was 26 hours, then they had to do a c-section because my water broke in the beginning and they couldn't wait for me to get to 10cm anymore, I could only get to 8.5cm. My contractions started a bit after my water broke and I got the epidural about 4 hours into it when I was at 5cm.

14 hours from first contraction to baby. Bearable for first 5 until water broke. Intense and hard for the next 7. Miserably impossible for 1 (transition, no meds). Pushed for 1.

hmm hard for me to tell when early labor ended and active labor really started both times, but if I had to estimate:

DD#1 - in early labor for about 11 hours (no epidural), active labor for about 8 hours (5 hrs no epidural, 3 hrs with epidural), then pushed for 54 mins. about 20 hours total.

DD#2 - in early labor for about 2 hours, in active for about 4 hours, pushed for 2 mins!! no meds! about 6 hours total.

Labor started around 2am with painful contractions. 8 hours into it I asked for an epidural--contractions were coming hard every 1-2 minutes. Rested for about 2 hours, pushed for 2 hours.
Had my baby 12 hours after I went into labor.

Labor started at 1 am, at 5 am the OB broke my waters and the pain was excrutiating. By 10:30 I was still only 5 cm, contractions were 2 min apart, 1 min long so I got an epidural. Baby arrived at 5 pm.

Mine started at 10 pm. I went to.the hospital around 1 in the morning, it wasn't too painful but contractions were very close together. They sent me home at 4, and the pain got crazy bad so I went back at 5. I got an epidural probably an hour later, and lo was born at 2:09 pm. So 16 hours.

Women talk about how long their labors lasted, but I want to know how long your labor lasted, and how much of it was painful?

My labor with Charlie was 24 hours, and I had regular contractions as soon as they started. The contractions started getting pretty painful at the 4 hour mark, and were very painful around the 6 hour mark. I got my epidural after 10 hours (6 hours after we got to the hospital because they were so busy that night... i was 8 cm dilated and in kill me now pain).

My labor with Olive was way faster. Contractions were so painful an hour after they started, I couldn't even walk into the hospital. I got an epidural only 2 hours after my contractions started! My total labor was 9 hours.

What about you?
