Ooo interesting. I was induced with E at 41 weeks and it was 16 hours start to finish. While I'd like to go on my own, I'll be inquiring about an induction with this baby if he's at risk for Pulmonary Hypertension since E had it (which is a complication of being overdue). Not sure if that's a freak thing or if it's more likely to happen.

@HappyBaker: Its a ball you use while in bed. Especially helpful for when you have an epidural. It helps keeps your hips open and keep labor going even once you are immobile. Luckily our hospital had them but I would totally buy one if your hospital doesn't have them. There was a thread about them on here because I hadn't heard of it before either!

I went into labor on my own at 38+3 wih my first.

Was induced for medical reasons at 38+2 with my second. Already wS having mild contractions every 10m on own before induction. I was 2-3cm and 80% so they just broke my water at 1:45 pm no pitocin. He was born at 9:59 pm.

Oh, and I think it bears mentioning that I was already 3cm dilated and 40% effaced for about a week or two already. I was induced at exactly 40 weeks. My water was broken first then pitocin started like 30 minutes later. I only got maybe a drop or two before contractions started.

@PrincessBaby: I was induced for both too-- first one was 12 hours from the start of pit to holding my babe. The second one, they broke my water to induce, and only added pitocin a couple of hours in (so 3hrs or so from birth) becsuse of some complications, but otherwise I wouldn't have needed it and it probably would have only been slightly longer. It was SO fast the second time, and I think that's pretty normal-- it should be much faster for you too!

This thread makes me excited bc my first induction took 36 hours from start to finish, and I'll be induced for this one also...But I'm sure I'll be the exception and LO2 will take just as long:)

I was induced at 42 weeks with my second. My first labor was 36 hours so I was really nervous but my second only took 3 hours and 50 minutes total but I would say it was only serious labor and pain the last hour and a halt. It was such a breeze compared to my first!

I was induced with my second, at 9am I was at my 40 week appt. he told me to check in at 11 for an induction. I think we got there at 11:15, pitocin started around 11:30, water broke at 1ish and she was born at 4:26.

My induction started with a pill inserted next to my cervix to ripen it a bit at about 9pm, then pitocin was started around 8am, and baby was born at 9:42pm, so nearly 24 hour induction, but the first night wasn't so much labor as me just sitting around/sleeping waiting for something to happen. So ~13 hours of labor after pitocin was started.

@NavyRN2012: @erinpye: that's great! I thought this would be a semi guaranteed 12-24 hour process so it's great to know there's a chance it could take way less time.

@HappyBaker: not really! With DD 1 I had a epidural and with DD 2 there was no time. She came really fast and I only pushed a few times and somehow didn't tear!

Um. With DD 1 I checked in around 3am I think and she was born at 1pm.

Dd2 we got to the hospital around 9am and she was born at 11:05am! I wasn't even officially admitted yet! But I don't think that's the norm.

Went in at noon, he was born 7 am the following morning. Pushing was much easier but I think that was also because of the peanut ball.

If you were induced with your second baby, how many hours did it take?

I'm getting induced Tuesday morning with Pitocin, and just curious of the range. My first baby I went into labor on my own and it was 12 hours from my water breaking to delivery.
