G started crawling at 7.5 months, and took her first steps at 10 months. Shes 11 months now and still not walking exclusively, but can go about 10ft or so before freaking out.

@Foodnerd81: E doesn't have a cautious (read: sensible) bone in her body! She crawled at high speed and nose dived (deliberately) off the side of the bed today while I was drying my hair - I only just caught her! She thought it was hilarious!!! She also keeps crawling under things and getting stuck!

@Cherrybee: oh no! That sounds terrible to watch but there is notice you can do. C is the opposite- very careful. She's stood by herself for a few seconds sometimes but that's it (like she takes her hand off the couch and balances for 3 seconds before plopping down on her bum.

Almost 9 months! She was crawling at 8 months, cruising at 12/13, and didn't take her first steps until 16.5. She was actually walking to get around at 17 months. She crawled for longer than she didn't!

E started crawling, erm, three weeks ago and already she's trying to stand up. The problem is, she doesn't realise she has to hold on - at all! She gets onto her knees in the middle of the room then onto one knee (like she's proposing) then launches onto her feet..... then onto her face, on the floor! She's black and blue! If we help her stand holding onto something, she immediately lets go..... but this trying to stand up completely alone, with nothing to hold onto is quite alarming!!

I thought the same as you. LO started pulling up at 7 months and she seemed to be making progress so fast. That was 2 months ago and it's been amazing to watch all the little things that she's learning, that in hindsight, she needs to walk. She cruises, gets down without falling, kneels, gets herself into a sitting position, crawls way faster than she used to, lunges between furniture, stands against the wall, crawls over and around things, drops things from standing and picks them up again. All things needed for spatial awareness and balance in order to walk. It's crazy to watch and so much more involved than just taking a step.

She was crawling around 8-9 months and walking around 10-11 months. It felt like they were happening around the same time. She was much more interested in cruising than crawling. I thought she was going to skip crawling and she only did it a little bit.

Miss M started pulling up a couple of weeks ago and now she's officially cruising--just moving from one piece of furniture to another or holding the back of her walker and taking a few tentative steps alone.

But so far, she's been on the later side of all milestones so I am guessing after 1 year for her. (She'll be 11 months in less than a week).

How long did it take for your LO to go from crawling to walking? I know it varies a lot but I'm curious what seems to be average.

C started crawling and pulling up a few weeks ago. On one hand, I feel like she is so far from walking, and she's just ten months, a baby, not a toddler! On the other hand, the progress she makes every day is crazy so I feel like it might not be as long as I think. She is pretty cautious though, so my guess is she will take a while to start, but once she does, she will have it down pat.
