@buffalove: We keep our house at 68 also. I'm slowly finding the right combination of blankets and her PJ's since some are fleece and some aren't. I have over heated her a few times because when I unwrapped her, her poor fingers were all sweaty :(

It's funny, she makes a big deal out of her binky when she is just going to sleep or if she wakes up, but really it falls out every single night and she sleeps through the night without it! lol

No... she is still in our room! That's why I want to move her to the crib in her room, but it is across the house!

@amohror: DS had been using a light blanket in tehe RNP for a little while but I got rid of it when I started putting him in warmer sleepers a few weeks ago. He now wears a footed, fleece sleeper with a onesie and hat (he's still pretty bald for 4 months). Now that it's getting colder out, I sometimes put a long-sleeved onesie and socks on, too. My monitor says the room is between 68-70 degrees and he's toasty warm when I change him in the morning.

We have the binky problem too. I was in there every hour or so the first night putting it back in, but since then I've only been in there once each night. Here's the strange thing, I noticed that he knocked the binky out of his mouth more in the RNP....maybe because his hands were closer to his mouth? When he's flat in the crib, he tends to be in the touch-down position.

We (DH and I) were sleeping well with DS in the RNP, and we're now back to sleeping fine again. Is your RNP in your bedroom or the nursery? Ours had been in the nursery since he was 4 weeks.

@buffalove: Not yet! My husband says she will never sleep in her crib HA, yeah, she will! lol I keep telling him that we will all sleep better and he doesn't seem to think so! I haven't done it yet because I'm not sure what to do blanket wise. Right now she sleeps with just her arms swaddled and has a blanket over her, but in the RnP she can't move enough to move the blankets. I tried one night letting her arms out and she just continuously pulls her binky out and wants it back! Or she sucks on her fingers a ton, but either way, I couldn't get her to go to sleep that way.

What did you do? I've been thinking about getting a sleep sack for the transition. Are you sleeping better?!

We made the transition ove the long weekend and it went smoothly. First night, it took him about 20 minutes to fall asleep and he was up about every 1-1.5 hrs needing his binky (wasnt fully awake, just restless). Once he got through that first night, he was fine - been sleeping through the night without a problem (probably helped that he was totally wiped out from all the Thanksgiving activity!).

@sotomorrow, @amohror: have you tried the transition yet? let us know how it goes.

@sorrycharlie: thank you for the info, I went back and read Winniebee's post before making the move and it was very helpful!

@matador84: yes, DS slept through the night in the RNP, he really loved it. He hated the swaddle but likes to be held close, so this was a happy medium for him. And the incline helped him when he was having some spit-up issues. I don't regret keeping him in the RNP at all - it helped everyone get good sleep early on, and the transition wasnt bad.

I will need to make the transition soon too! She has been sleeping in her RnP since birth and shes almost 4 months now. Shes really tiny ( only 11lbs) so she hasnt outgrown it, I just think it's time soon. She already sleeps in her crib for naptime but usually only 30 minutes at a time.

She slept in the rnp from 2-4 months, until she started rolling and arching her back in it (i was swaddling her and not using the safety belt since it would wake her up trying to buckle her in). She is in the pack n play now, but her sleep was better in the rnp, at least at first. She's also really tall, so she was out of it earlier.

@daniellemybelle: My dd sleeps at night in her rnp, it has been her only bed since birth and she is now 3 months.

I'm thinking we'll transition her within the next few weeks though since we'll be moving internationally and staying with DH's and then my parents for a few weeks and I would like her to have the stability of sleeping in the same bed during that time, so she'll move to her babybjorn soon and a real crib once we are set up in our new home.

@daniellemybelle: My doctor didn't have a problem with him sleeping in it at night. He had been sleeping in his crib but starting spitting up a LOT and slept more soundly in the RNP.

@dookie32: thanks for the info! That's not a bad idea to camp out in his room, as I think the binky is going to be our problem. I'm thinking about trying it over Thanksgiving since it's a long weekend - I work out of the house so it's not ideal to try this on a week night!

My son was in the RNP until 5 months. I'm a FTM and I wasn't ready to have him in his own room so that's one of the reasons we (I) waited so long. Also he was sleeping really well in the RNP. He was still swaddled in the Miracle Blanket and I knew that we wouldn't be able to put him in that in the crib since he had started rolling.

We definitely had a rough few nights when we transitioned him. For the first few nights, I slept on the floor in his room on a mattress since he was probably up every 2 hours or so. Being in the crib wasn't the issue- he was sleeping in a crib already at day care and at home on the weekends for naps so he was already a little familiar with it. It was getting used to not being swaddled- his arms still flailed a lot. But after about 4 nights, he was back to sleeping 10 hrs a night straight through. The only hiccup was when he started rolling over and couldn't roll back but that only lasted a few nights.

Following because I was about to ask the same question! She will be 5 months this weekend and we tried to put her in the crib last night with no luck. She's getting too tall for the RnP too.

DS is almost 4 months and sleeping so well at night in the rock & play. I am dreading the transition to his crib! When did you make the transition, and how long did it take? Any tips?
