@oliviaoblivia: Yes. She really slimmed down once she started walking. I didn't expect her to slim down that much. But it could be because she started eating solids a little late, so by the time she was really eating, she was already so active.

I thought I was so clever to skip 12m clothes since she fit 9m clothes really early on and some 18m pants early on (around the waist, not in length). But she's ended up wearing 12m for like 7 months! She still wears 12m Carter's onesies now! I just bought a pack of Next onesies size 9-12m!

I would buy a little of both, but keep in mind they slow down and slim down after becoming mobile.

DD wore 12m stuff from the time she turned 12m until she was about 18m (had to size up because of length not waist). DS started in 12m stuff when he was 9m and will likely still be in it for some of this winter but likely will need to move up to 18m because of length.

@allison: geez my phone has horrible spelling! Sorry about that.
The 9-12 h&m pants will probably be too short in a week. I guess 12-18 for the winter. They are just so much longer. I wish there were an in between size. 12-15 would be good.

@oliviaoblivia: haha, I think I've deciphered your reply correctly... ;)

I ordered 12-18 from H&M and he's can wear the pants now, rolled up. The cardigans are a little too big (even with the sleeves rolled up), but he's worn one once and it wasn't too bad. E is very round, though, with a huge butt + cloth dipes. I think 12-18 for L would be a safe bet for fall/winter, from H&M. I'd get both sizes from anywhere else.

@allison: it feels strange ordering that many sizes ahead. For some reason size six on a two month old doesn't bother me as much as 18 on an 8 month old.
How did your last H&M prefer turn out?

I've got this problem, too. I placed a pretty big Carter's order for fall/winter last week, ordered all 12-18 month for some reason. I just washed everything, and he can wear the onesies, sweaters, and a couple pairs of pants now! I now realize I should've gotten some 18-24 month stuff, too. Guess I'll have to place another H&M order to compensate... ;)

@oliviaoblivia: I'm holding on to the rather delusional hope that somehow some of the 6-9, 9, and 9 - 12 month stuff will fit when the weather gets cooler but I've pretty much come to accept I'll have to scrap (read that as re-sell) everything :( DH was laughing at me last night for it. Way to be supportive :(

DD is 19 months and still wears some of her 12m onesies. The jeans no longer fit but the leggings are still ok for fall since it's like the cropped look now (lol). She's very slim so her onesies seem to last longer since she doesn't stretch it out width-wise. Her 18 month pants fit lengthwise but the waist is sometimes too big so I am big on buying pants next size up with the adjustable waists (from H&M, Zara, and I think Target has some too).

My eldest was in 12 month starting at around 7 to 8 months and he was in them until... about 11 months. A little less than. He was in 18 month onesies all winter but the 18 month pants didn't fit at the time. He was still 12 month in the waist.

Right now, we're still in 18 month shirts at 19 months old and finally in 18 month pants. He can also wear 24 month shirts but 24 month pants are waaaaaaay too big.

@oliviaoblivia: lol "smart people." She's turning 15 months next weekend. I just noticed last weekend that her 12 month rompers (the items that fit the longest) were too small. Tee shirts are way too small, shorts are too tight on her belly. She's still in 12-18 month and will be for a while.

I'm struggling with whether to buy 12-18 mo or 18-24mo jeans. I just feel like this fall they would just fall right off.

I live in Maine, which I'm guessing/assuming is a little like Canada in the fact that winter is all.the.time.forever.and.ever. Seriously though, I'll be dressing LO for winter from like Oct-April; sad panda.

So LO started wearing 12m stuff around 10 months (April) and is still in a lot of 12m stuff today. 12m shirts and some longer pants are perfect for her, but she has long legs so we're starting to transition over to 18m stuff, although most 18m stuff is so dang big on her!!

I'm trying to find brands that make 12-18 where I can, and buying 18m for fall/winter. I figure I can roll up sleeves and hems until they fit perfectly.

both sizes? I don't like when clothes are too big on DS. Maybe size up on jackets. I went for 12 month, but he's barely starting to wear 12 months and he was in 9 months for about 6 months.
