I recently waited 2 hours combined- 30 minutes for the ultrasound tech and 1.5 hours for the OB/GYN... with my 2 year old. Her dad took the wrong morning off of work and I unexpectedly had to bring her. Luckily she was an angel since they had a huge basket of books she's never read but I was really mad. I usually wait 30 minutes or so. I miss my old OB/GYN, but we moved too far to use her this time. We can't switch because this is the only practice where you deliver at the "good" hospital (our city has one huge hospital affiliated with the local university that has lots of med students/ nursing students rotating through where you share rooms or there is a really nice private hospital with private rooms).

Oh man with my first baby I regularly waited an hour + to finally get called back, then another 30 minutes in the room. My current practice is so much better, it's never more than 10-15 minutes past my appointment time that I'm in the room with the Doctor.

I hardly ever had to wait more than 10-15 minutes. If there was an emergency and he was in theater they had called me to let me know there was a delay, or if he needed to re-schedule they would also call me in advance. The only time I had to wait on him was when I was waiting to be induced and he was running late due to doing IVF transfers that morning and the anaesthetist was late.

I see a midwife for my regular appointments, but then we see the high risk doc a few times too.... I have asthma and endo, so I'm not technically high risk and will probably only see him a total of 3 times for the whole pregnancy. His office is bad... Last time, we were the first appt of the day and we waited an hour. I complained to the nurse but she couldn't really do anything. As for the midwives, I've never had to wait long, maybe 20 minutes max! I think I waited 20 mins the day I had to be squeezed in bc I had a sinus infection. I honestly couldn't handle waiting that long for appointments. I work 45-55 hours a week and DH works 40-50. We also live and work a good 30 minute drive from the office/hospital. I usually have to squeeze my appt into the very beginning or end of my day.

The practice we go to is really good about staying on time, no matter what time of day it is. I'm usually called back within five minutes and have to wait maybe another 5 minutes to see the doctor. Sometimes it's a little longer, but not usually. I really appreciate that about them! I would be super cranky if I had to wait as long as some of you do.

Usually about 20 min. 5-10 in the waiting room and 10-15 after the nurse is done with me. I talk to the doctor for about 5 min. This is why I hate how frequently they want me to go in. And they are pretty inconsistent so even though I have another doctor to see in the same building, I can't schedule appointments on the same day.

This is probably one of the only negatives about my OB. A "shorter" time to wait is 20 minutes, and it's been up to 45 or an hour (but that's rare). He's almost always running behind, BUT, the reason he's running behind (and he knows this and admits it) is that he spends ample time with each patient, and always makes us feel like we are listened to, cared for, and considered deeply. Morning appointments are typically a shorter wait time, but I just tell myself it will likely take longer than I think and plan for it. His time and attention are worth it, so I put up with it!

At my new dr, 5 or 10 minutes at most from the time I sign in. (One visit took longer but that was the exception, not the rule). At my last ob, it was no less than an hour. I'll be sticking with my current dr!!

My old OB was always an hour, minimum. The new one, probably 20 minutes? BUT he is awesome & restricts his hospital patients to the one literally opposite his office rooms, so he's never too far away & the team are great at ringing and rescheduling if he's called to an emergency!

Every time I went to an OB (MFM or regular, across multiple practices in multiple states) it was at least a 45 minute wait. The midwives are sometimes waiting on me (if I have paperwork to fill out). Guess which I prefer. 😄

I used to wait 1-3 hours for my previous OBGYN. I still typically wait 45 minutes to 1 hour for my current. And was was written in as being able to see anyone available at both places. There just aren't enough OBGYN's for my area and they all overbook. I don't know anyone who doesn't have a long wait time for their doctor around here. In fact, I regularly have to wait at least 30 minutes at every single one of my doctors and specialist's offices. Only my kid has decent wait times. I figured that's just how it was everywhere.

My OB always double and sometimes triple booked appt so it always took forever, however I didn't mind because I really like him and I work at the hospital where his office is so I could just walk over during working hours and sometimes still get work done while waiting. When my husband came with me though he would get so annoyed and lose patience with how long it took.

@winniebee: Between 30 seconds and 1 hour. :o
It depends on if there is a birth that day. Tuesdays and Fridays are generally the bad days.

But I rarely wait in the exam room more than 5 min, usually all/most of the waiting is in the waiting room. Usually they also say they are running behind. I always bring something to do.

I used to always try for the first appointment of the day, but I found that they were somehow running late. My ob had 3 kids so that could be to blame, which I get it... but it was annoying. I would typically get called back on time, but then be sitting in the dang room staring at the walls for like 20-30 minutes.

That's atrocious. I would never wait 45 mins 3X in a row to see a dr. It sounds like the office is way overbooking her. The first OB group I went to was undergoing renovations so they only had half the rooms available but they didn't seem to book less appointments and we started having long wait times. That helped us decide to choose another practice, along with other things we didn't like. The new one I chose was always on time, maybe a 5 minute wait time to get called back and maybe 5 mins to see the dr once in a room. I wait over an hour one time but that's because I showed up without an appointment over what I thought was an emergency and they squeezed me in. they even have a sign in the lobby saying to see a receptionist if you've been waiting more than 15 minutes for your appointment. I'd switch if they can't remedy!

Usually not long. At most 10 minutes in the waiting room and 5-15 minutes in the exam room.

I highly recommend calling ahead and asking if the doc is running on time. I did this most of the time and the nurses were great about telling me if I should come a little late.

I'm a teacher so I can't go to appointments early in the day without taking off a full or half day but I could make appointments later in the day without taking any time off, so that's what I did. Which also meant I spent a lot of time waiting. They were usually pretty timely calling me back but then I never knew how long it'd be from then. If they were running behind I wish they'd have me wait in the waiting room longer because I had a tendency to worry they'd forgotten about me in the exam room!

It's frustrating bc I didn't love the office or any of the providers I saw, it isn't super well located for me BUT they signed off on the max FMLA I could be paid for so I will stay with them for baby #2 based on that fact only.

My last appointment was at 9:30 and I didn't get out of there until almost 12:30. I had the anatomy scan but still was waiting for well over an hour before my scan and then 20 minutes to see the MFM doctor and another 15-20 minutes before my appointment (which lasted about 5 minutes). It was really frustrating but I was told that it was only because MFM was in the office that day and usually it is not as bad. I hope it doesn't continue because I don't have time to deal with that!
