@Mrs. Bee: I have one bag of breastmilk in the fridge which is from the week after LO was born in April!! But anyway that milk is very dark in color I guessbecause of the colostrum, is it worth feeding that to her or should i just throw that out

I have 3 gift bags of breast milk in the fridge that we haven't touched yet...but I'm going to start following @Mrs. Bee cycling plan with the older stuff (the oldest I have is a month and a half) and mixing it with the fresh.

I also cycled through the frozen milk by mixing fresh + frozen to make sure the nutrients are always there. I'd hate for your freezer stash to get old where the nutrients aren't enough to supply your baby.

I cycled like all PPs, but ended up needing it once my period returned. Once it did, my supply TANKED during the week I had it. Id always be able to pump some, but a majorty during those weeks came from the freezer. Now at almost a year, we use it in bottles as I pump less to get through the stash

Thanks guys. yeah I only pump in the morning and evenings now. And the rest of the time I just breastfeed her. She only takes 3 bottles to daycare since I feed her right before we leave and she eats every 3 hours. I guess I will start including one bottle from the freezer everyday then. Its hard keeping up with frozen vs fresh milk.

Hm if I had any stash I would use freezer stash for Monday since I nurse when I'm with her but I know you only nurse in the morning and evenings.
What about just including one bag of your stash like once every other day into daycare? So that she's still getting nutritionally appropriate milk and you're using your stash?

I've read you can keep it up to 6months? But I wouldn't keep it that long if you don't have to because nutritional value decreases over time.

I store in our deep freezer that isn't opened a lot so maybe 5 months? I usually cycle through my milk and give daycare 2 bottles from my frozen stash and 2 bottles of fresh milk.

i continuously cycle through my freezer stash so it doesn't get too old. i freeze all my fresh milk on hand on friday. then on sunday night i defrost two bags of my oldest frozen milk. then i mix that milk with freshly pumped milk so that it's nutritionally appropriate for current day.

i try to use frozen milk within 3 months. currently we have it in a separate freeze that we rarely open, so the milk can go a little bit longer than that. but in a regular freezer that's opened regularly, it should be used withing 3 months or so.

I dont know exactly how much I have in the freezer except that there is a lot! Do I just keep building up the freezer stash? Each day my baby goes to daycare with milk that I pumped from the day before and any extras milk that I pumped from the day before goes into the freezer. When will I get to use the freeze stash and how long can I keep in the freezer before I have to use it
