@hilsy85: I eat berries every morning in my oatmeal so I wanted to share. I like the idea of feeding baby what mom/dad is eating (within reason). The berries I currently have are frozen though since there aren't many good fresh berries at the store anymore right now. Would you give frozen berries?

Once she had had a few things on their own, I started combining them. From that point I tried to give her just one new thing a day, but didn't limit her to just that food that day.

@Adira: ha no!! Don't worry :) Just like anything else, it's a recommendation not a hard and fast rule! I don't think my DH had a ton of foods til he was like 2 and he has no allergies!

we stopped after a few weeks...also I think the recommendation is now to introduce "high allergenic" foods like peanut butter, eggs, berries, etc at 6 months, unless you have a family hx of allergies--I think new findings show that introducing early helps reduce risk of allergic reaction.

@cmomma17: Ours didn't either, haha. But our last appointment was at 6 months and Xander was totally resisting eating anything, so we didn't have a big in depth conversation about it either.

@Adira: yeah we don't have any food allergies either. I think we will keep being a little cautious for the first month or so at least. Plus we are avoiding the high allergy risk foods for the first year. I'm just impatient! :)
Did your ped say anything about food allergies? Ours didn't at all.

@cmomma17: I have the same issue - Xander has ezcema and I have seasonal allergies, so I'm nervous about him being allergic! Although Hubs and I don't have any food allergies, so maybe he'd be okay...?

@Smurfette: LOL. My friend who made the college comment above hasn't followed the "rules" at all. Her LO is over a month younger than mine and he has had yogurt, bread, oatmeal, fruit, RIBS!! And he's still alive!

C has ezcema though, and I have seasonal allergies so we should probably be cautious.

@Adira: when we do something brand new (like sweet potato today) we give him just that food alone. But after the first time he's had two foods in one day (avocado and banana, oatmeal an banana). I keep getting excited about new foods I'd like to try, but when I start counting days I think, geez, we probably won't get to that until January!!!

I want to know this too! Xander is almost 8 months and we're still doing one at a time! Though part of that is because we had a really slow start and haven't been doing it every day...

I'm doing baby led weaning with my 6 month old LO. We give each food for three days before trying something new. So far he has had three days of banana, three days of oatmeal, three days of avocado, and today we started sweet potato. How long do we keep up the one food at a time pace? My mom friend joked that "he'll be in college before he ever eats a sandwich" :)
