@catomd00: Agree. 24hrs for daycare. Any extra activities are on a case by case basis, depending on how LO is feeling and if there are any other symptoms.

I said it depends. Normally I would say 24 hours but LO vomits if he has dairy and I wouldn't keep him home for any length of time if that was the reason.

I agree with the 24 hours rule for most things. Unless it's a play date, then I do at least 24 hours and talk to the parents about whether they are comfortable with the play date going ahead.

24 hours from interacting at all, then we will go someplace like a playground or the store and stuff. I give it a little longer before I'd go to someone's house or have friends to ours. For something like a children's museum or activities, it depends how sick she was. One off fever that went away on its own, 24 hours is fine. Actual sickness, I wait longer since she isn't exactly good about covering her mouth and not touching every single thing.

24 hours for daycare unless she is still miserable and I can stay home. Usually longer for "extracurriculars" that aren't a necessity.

I keep LO home from daycare 24 hours after a fever or vomiting. I would keep her home longer before going to a playdate or having close contact with other kids that didn't get her sick. However, we don't stay in the house in isolation during that 24 hours. When she was an infant I would take her pretty much anywhere in a carrier. We often went to the zoo since she wouldn't be touching anything or breathing on anyone but me. Now that she's a toddler we'll go for walks or to the store if I think she's over while we wait out the 24 hours for return to daycare.

How long do you keep LO home after a fever or vomiting? Do you have different rules depending on where you are going? Work vs play date, park, church etc? Curious!
