@TurtleDoves: Thanks for the advice/idea! I'll have to give it a shot next week.

@scg00387: We're in a life transition phase too and it's made his sleep all wonky :(

@Running Elley: I wish I could nap with E! That sounds lovely. :)

@FutureMrsMcK: I can totally picture him playing in his crib. What a cutie patootie.

30 minutes. If he's not asleep by then, we'd tray again in a half hour.

I leave her until she's crying or she falls asleep. I would love to get her used to quiet crib time. I would like to have that time in the mornings after she drops her first nap.

I just consider it quiet time, and will let him stay in there until he either starts screaming or falls asleep. If he's sitting playing it's usually the latter. I put him down for a nap about 10 minutes ago and have been watching him play on the monitor since. He's happy and cuddling his giraffe, and he'll fall asleep happy, and sleep longer :)

@babyjmama: Wellllll we night sleep trained E at 5.5 months and he had been going down for naps easily... I'd just have to rock him for a few minutes. In the past week it got to the point where he'd scream and fight going down and wouldn't sleep longer than 20 minutes unless I was laying down with him. So this week we started nap training. I take him into his room, rock him while I sing him a song with his paci and blankie. Then I give him a kiss and set him down in the crib. And he fusses himself to sleep. The first day he'd cry for almost 15 minutes before going to sleep but he's gotten to the point where he'll just whine for a couple of minutes and he's taken multiple naps of over an hour!

We're in a transition phase so consistency has eluded us but for my LO if he doesn't fall asleep after twenty minutes he starts getting more wound up and ends up screaming overtired by the time he does fall asleep. So I take him out after 20 and try again in a half hour.

@babyjmama: yeah like @Running Elley: I jut keep him there a hour. If check on him if he were crying but if not, I'd let him be.
I might get frustrated about 30mins and go in and lay him down with a paci though just to remind him that he is there to sleep. But, I think all babies need wind down time, so whether he be asleep or just sitting there babbling in the dark, It doesn't matter to me, personally.

P hung out until she fell asleep.. I also don't have a specific naptime for "this time" to "this time" so if it took her 45 minutes to fall asleep that was a-okay with me.

@Running Elley: Make me privy to this nap plan, por favor!

@sorrycharlie: I am considering going to a planned nap time, whether there's sleep or not. What if they got fussy during that time?

I say as long as they are happy. When my nanny LOs napped, as long as they weren't totally melting down, their mom wanted them in there 1.5-2 hours. whether they slept or not - they got some down time and independent play time :)

I leave Olivia til she fusses, usually she won't hang longer than 20-30 min.

Well I'm nap training so kinda different scenario but from the time I put him down in the crib I go an hour before I take him out and consider nap over (per @turtledoves advice :)).

From the time he wakes up in the morning and is just playing in the crib I'll usually go get him after a few minutes'.

J is really hard to get to sleep and he'll often just hang out in his crib for a while and play quietly until he falls asleep. If he's babbling and obviously not asleep, how long do you think he should hang out in there before I give up on this nap? It's been almost 20 minutes. He's not fussing, but he's clearly not asleep either...
