My LO is almost 15 months and she wears a onesie as an extra layer pretty much everyday. They are just the plain white ones and I think of them like an undershirt. I don't think I've ever used a onesie as her main outfit/top. We had so many cute onesies as hand me downs and as gifts but I just didn't like the way just a onesie looked on her. Usually she wears a tunic like top

I'll probably stop dressing her in a onesie when we start thinking about potty training.

Adding: we never really used onesies for layering. They just served as his shirts. He's a warm/sweaty kid.

Wagon Jr. wore onesies until he was walking consistently on his own! I hate the shirt riding up thing. When he stopped wearing onesies I found it was so easy to check for poo in his diaper-- just pull out the back and peek in!

I typically only use a onesie when it's really cold or windy outside to make sure her back and tummy stay covered at all times or if she's wearing a jumper or something like that. I don't typically like the look of just a onesie and pants/leggings so I try to stick to actual shirts.

We will definitely stop using them altogether when it comes time to potty train.

At about a year. Mostly due to LO's size. She was starting to wear 24 month/2T at that time and onesies are harder to find.

Hadn't thought about potty training. I've been buying them on sale through 24 months since I have no clothes for when he gets bigger. I love that they don't ride up.

We mostly stopped shortly after a year, too. He has a few 18-24 month onesies that never get worn because it's just a pain for diaper changes. I'll keep that in mind for any future LOs ... I hate that those cute outfits are going to waste, but convenience rules in this family!

Lo is 16 months and wears them under dresses or overalls. With my dsd we stopped at 2. Again she only wore them under certain clothing though.

I stopped at around a year. Easier for diaper changes :)

@Mrs. Pen: I agree with the shirt riding up thing, I always put her in a onesie when we go out in cold weather so she doesn't have get cold and exposed. She is a year and almost never wears them at home.

We stopped around a year as LO was walking and it was easier for diaper changes. Daycare prefers it too. She still sleeps in a onesie with a sleep sack over it though.

He is nearly a year and still wears onesies - often it's for extra layering. Though he also has a few summer items that are onesies. My sister said for sure until her son was walking - because with picking them up all the time their shirts would ride up! So partially privacies sake.

So I guess we'll see! Maybe 18-24 mos?

When did/will/would you stop putting a onesie on your baby?

My son is nearly a year and I've been thinking about this.
When you are potty training? Before?
