Our pedi doesn't do unscheduled visits but I've never waited more than about 15min after appointment time. They have also always been able to get us in that day but they have evening "sick" hours for that exact purpose.

If I call and can't get an appointment within the hour, I take DD to the local Urgent Care. I've never had to wait longer than 30 minutes there, and then we follow up with DD's doctor a couple days later. Is an urgent care an option for you?

I haven't had to do that yet, but I think it would just depend. Our doctor has two offices, and we go to the less busy one so we rarely have to wait. And it just depends if it's a busy time, like before school starts.

I'll call and make a last minute appointment. For our old peds, it was possible to wait 1 hr so I switched. I thought that was a ridiculously long time. Now we wait for maybe 10 minutes.

They bring us in as soon as the person already in there is done, so anywhere between 10-30 minutes. The only reason it would take longer is if there was another "emergency" that was more serious than ours.

Just wondering, when you take your LO to the doctor without an appointment ( in case of unexpected illness) how long do you wait. had to take LO today and it took over 2 hours to see the doctor even though I had already called ahead and spoken to them. The same thing happened last time she was ill. I dont know if this is normal of if I should be considering switching doctors. I really like my pediatrician but today for instance i had to leave work and pick LO from the daycare and I had to go back to work afterwards, so waiting 2+ hours in the doctors office is really inconvenient. How long do you typically wait on a day when you have no appointment
