It really depends on if it starts getting worse... P had an ongoing cough for almost a month but it wasn't really getting "worse".

After doing some research when it wasn't going away (going on 3 weeks) used eucalyptus oil & lavender oil (a natural expectorant) in her bath at night & I'd put 1 drop of the lavender in the corner of her crib at bedtime. It cleared it up in a week!

@BabyBoecksMom: maybe try a saline spray on her and see if that helps until you take her? If it's not getting better every day I say take her earlier. My DD did have a bad sinus infection a few months ago which resulted in pain in her eye... Was really hard to track down since she didn't have cough or drainage!

@T-Mom: I'm taking the same approach but I'm also worried it's a sinus infection.

I would probably do the same, but I am kind of a wait and see type person. My DD also has a wet cough and I'm thinking of taking her Friday as well if it doesn't improve, because I suspect sinus infection (but it doesn't bother her during the day).

DD has had a nasty, wet cough for about a week now. It's mostly when she's sleeping and in the morning, but she still coughs throughout the day. It sounds so awful at night - like she's suffocating - but she sleeps through it.

I was thinking of taking her in if she still has it on Friday, but I don't know if they'll be able to do anything for her.

How long do you wait to see the pediatrician if your LO has a cough?
