They are boosters with a 5 point harness since I feel more comfortable having her in that that using the seat belt. When she outgrows the harness we will switch to seat belt setting . We use britax frontier 45. I do not remember being in a booster seat at all, especially not when I started schooling! By grade one I was definitely out of any car seats! Depending on the size of the child they could be in the convertible even longer. Our britx pavilion is good up to 48 inches or 70 lbs, whichever comes first.
