I'm wondering about this too as I'm taking LO to the UK for 2 weeks and DH can't come.

That's good to know! I'm hoping that because DD will have just had a month with her daddy around all the time (instead of going off to work five days per week), he will be fully ingrained in her memory for when we return!

When my first was only three months old my DH left to do a summer work in Houston, TX. My daughter and I flew down right after her four month visit, and she totally recognized my DH in the airport. She immediately got a huge grin on her face. We did a little skyping, but that was more for him than for the baby. So, if she can at four months, after he had been gone for four weeks, I would imagine your LO won't forget her Daddy :)

Hurmm.. DH was away for 2 weeks when LO was around 5-6 months old. She never had separation or stranger anxiety so things went back to normal when he got home.
We skyped while he was away too.

DH and I are travelling overseas to visit both of our families over Christmas, spending the majority of our time in the UK with his family before heading on to the States to visit my family. DH is taking a month off work but needs to be back after New Year, so he'll be heading back to Australia at the start of January and I'll be staying in the States for 3 additional weeks with our LO, who will be 6 months old at the time.

DH is really worried that DD won't remember him when we get back - and I have to admit, I'm a bit worried about this too! We'll skype or face time every day so she can see his face (although not sure she'll understand that concept at that age) and hear his voice, but I'm still worried she'll be a bit freaked out when we get back and I know he'll be so upset if that happens.

Does anyone have any experience with this? Is there anything we can do to make sure she remembers him? I'm just kicking myself that I didn't book an earlier flight back but I sort of got steam rolled by my family...argh. :-(
