I need to sleep with the tv/radio on. If I don't, it can take me at least an hour to fall asleep (mind wanders), but if it's on, I'm out in less than ten minutes.

Depends... usually when I'm reading a book, I pass out in ten minutes (Unless I'm REALLY into the book!)

If I have the TV on, 30 min or so...

With nothing.. I usually sleep within 15 minutes.

When I nap on the couch I can fall asleep almost instantly. But for some reason it takes me longer in bed. Sometimes it is 5 minutes and other times it could be hours if I am thinking about stuff.

Same. I'm a night owl, always been. I need to read a book and wait until I can no longer see straight before I fall asleep. When I was single, I'd listen to relaxing music and fall asleep to it.

Although DH is a deep sleeper, I feel bad having music on, so I read instead.

Usually pretty easily once I make it to bed. Late night is when I am at my most productive, so I hate to stop and go to bed. I usually read for 15 minutes or so before getting sleepy.

usually, i can fall asleep easily, but last night, i was up until 3 am! when i have something on my mind, it's almost impossible for me to turn my brain off. luckily, this only happens every one in a while when i read/do something right before bed. i need to stop reading my emails right before i go to sleep!

I'm pretty much always asleep within 5-10 minutes, and I don't think I'm sleep deprived... for now. It will be a whole different story once baby arrives.

that is EXACTLY like me and Rob Sr. Sometimes it takes me hours... I've ALWAYS been this way. I remember thinking up whole storybooks of stories when I was in elementary school. I'd check the clock and still be awake well past midnight.

Meanwhile, Rob Sr. can fall asleep even before his head hits the pillow.

I'm much better about sleeping now that I'm always exhausted with work, pregnancy, chasing around a toddler and all the housework. We are also VERY strict about our room being only for sleep. I think this helps since I spent a lot of time in my bedroom before I got married. Now the bedroom is only for sleep. We have a TV in our room but we only use it on Saturday mornings so we can laze around while RJ eats his breakfast and plays in our room. I didn't even use it during late night feedings when RJ was an infant. We try not to have any serious conversations in our bedroom and we don't spend time in there. Only for sleep. And boom-boom.

@mrbee: I disagree. I'd love a good nights sleep! Even when I have time to sleep I can't. And then I'm sooooo tired.

If I have a lot of my mind 1-2 hours. It's great if I'm tired and I go to sleep in less than an hour.

Last night, I had trouble sleeping but then I remember I have the 'Sleep Machine- free' app and that put me to sleep real quick. I like listening to ocean waves and relaxation (yoga sounds). Yoga always relaxes me.

Also, I bought the app 'Sleep Cycle' and really interesting to see when I'm in deep sleep and when I'm not. Also, it's suppose to wake me up gently as apposed to alarm clocks that don't know my sleep cycle.

It takes me a long time to fall asleep...Even if I'm tired. My mind races about things I need to do, things I should have done, things I ought to do, etc. The WORST is when I get up in the middle of the night for LO's feeding and can't fall back asleep...UGH!

Sleeping is my superpower! In retrospect, I should probably ask to get a new superpower. This one kind of sucks!

Probably about a half hour. I think that's how long it takes for the sleep meds to kick in. But then I'll wake up in the middle of the night still. I want sleep!

I once read that if you fall asleep as soon as your head hits the pillow, you're probably sleep deprived. But Mr. Bee is pretty good about falling asleep right away even when he isn't sleep deprived. As a lifelong insomniac, I'm so jealous! It is extremely rare, and only when I'm completely and utterly exhausted that I'll fall asleep like that. Usually thoughts are racing through my head so I need to zone out and watch a little tv to drown out all the thoughts before bed.
