@Kelley_lovelikecrazy: I'm actually the one who is better at CIO and I always thought it would be the opposite. It sucks majorly, but it saved my sanity for getting her to bed. She ended up crying for 15 minutes total. I tried leaving her twice for five minutes and the crying was so hard and fast, but the last time she didn't want to be touched at all and it was very minimal before she rolled over and went to sleep. Tonight it will be just us again and I hope that she goes to sleep normally.

It's so much easier for me to type CIO, than it is in practice. I'm a mess, my husband is better at it, so I have that support. I always time it bc it seems so long and then it's only a few minutes. It's hard when she is out of her routine even back home. Visitors make it hard on Olivia. How long has it been? Ugh I know it's so tough! We've all been there!

@avivoca: Aww, I'm sorry mama! We were there a couple of weeks ago and it was really rough...I hated hearing her cry and I kept going back in to check on her, which I don't usually do, but she would just sit up and sob and it was so hard :( We had also just travelled for a long weekend and that probably didn't help. She is back to her usual self now though...she still stands up in her cot a lot, but doesn't cry.

@Kelley_lovelikecrazy: @daniellemybelle: We ended up doing CIO last night. It's so hard with my husband here because a) he hates hearing her cry and b) her routine is that he isn't here. Her wakeup were not as frequent, but I still missed my run this morning because she refused to let me put her down.

I don't think we've hit the nine month sleep regression yet, so take this with a grain of salt, but CIO is all that works after traveling. About three days after, she's usually back to her normal self! Good luck mama!

I'm so sorry, lady. Like I was telling you, S is out of whack for several days after traveling & the only thing that really works is CIO :( What I usually do is make sure she has a good nap day even if that means holding her & letting her sleep on the boob for 2 hours. That may be hard to do if she has to go back to school today, though, but maybe being back in her routine could help? Once I know she is not too overtired, we just do our bedtime routine nice & early & she usually will be totally awake (and cranky) and she has to CIO. But after a couple nights it snaps her out of it.

Having said all that, you might be fighting an uphill battle if she's going through the 9 month regression too :( Hope you got some sleep last night!

@avivoca: I have no idea. We are in sleep hell and it's not a fun trip.

Bees, I'm going to go insane. We just got back from a trip to Chattanooga, and H WILL NOT GO TO SLEEP. She fought sleep the entire trip, starting with the first full day there. The night we arrived, she went to sleep at 9:00 (we arrived around 8:30), the night after that she refused to sleep in the crib, and the last night we were there she fought sleep until well after 9:00 and still wouldn't sleep in the crib. We got home last night and she didn't sleep until 10:00.

It's now 8:37 and she's still awake. She has only had one short nap today. Mama is going to lose her mind. How long does it take for babies to reset back to normal sleep patterns?
