I am finding these answers very disheartening! Lol. LO is only 7 months...I hope this doesn't last until a year +!

I'm sorry to say this, but the sep anxiety is at its peak now at 23 months :( she is soooo whiny and clingy. These days I pretty much hold her nonstop. It's really tiring and exhausting :(

It comes and goes in phases. I did a LOT of wearing during the bad times. Ellie had it bad, Lorelei was less so.

Going strong here at 9 months. Trying to get ready for work in the morning is pretty stressful!

We're in the thick of it (I hope) at just about 11 months. I cannot take LO anywhere in the car. She freaks out because I'm not holding her. I've started parking the car at home and walking to daycare to do the pick up because I cannot stand the screaming.

It happens all around the house too. I just hold her while I eat, go to the bathroom, while she eats, and while she naps. At least she sleeps in her own crib. It's freaking exhausting.

Oh, honey. I *so* feel for you. We have it BAD at our house right now. I don't actually mind giving DD any extra attention and cuddles I can spare time for, but the whining! It. has. got. to. go.

P.S. I agree with other Bees - I don't think you have any choice but to give in. I don't know how old your LO is, but it's not like my 1 yo can understand why I am ignoring her and thus will suddenly stop being so annoying... FWIW, I was complaining to my mom about SA the other day and she just laughed and said she remembered it well!

It started with my LO around 7.5 months and at 9 months is still going strong. It is super rough. I've been wearing him a lot so I can still try to get things done, but the constant 'pick me up, put me down' routine kills me. :-(

@Kemma: A chatter constantly. It doesn't help. He whines as soon as I step away. Ugh.

That sounds rough and hard work! The bad news is that it can last months with some kids but only a short while for others and it can come and go.

Does it help if you keep chattering away to your LO when you leave his side or sight? Some babies cope better if you give them a constant narration of what you're doing. And I don't think "giving in" will be making it worse so do what you need to do to get through it!

And yes. Whining is the WORST.

It comes and goes, so this may not be the last time. I found that "giving in" really was the best option. I would wear her as much as possible to get things done and respond immediately for the first week or so. After that I could slowly increase my time before responding, while still being reassuring, wearing her, etc.

I am at my wits end. Separation anxiety has hit big time and it's driving me bonkers.

If I am not holding him or on the floor next to him he cries. I can't go to the bathroom without bringing him, I have to shower with the curtain open, I can't walk into the kitchen to get a drink or shove food down my throat. It's killing me.

My husband is out of town so I've had no break. My house is a mess because if I leave his field of vision for even a second it's the end of the world. He whines nonstop all. day. long.

Please tell me this passes quickly! My mom swears I am making it worse by giving in to him but what other option do I have? Let him scream?
