What finally worked for us was giving it no attention at all. We didn't even tell her "no." Once we stopped reacting then she stopped the throwing. I would say it took about 1 week of consistently ignoring the behavior. I always thought the "natural consquence" would be taking her food away until she can "be nice" but she is such a finnicky eater that she'd starve that way! So I usually just say, "No ma'am," and go on without making too big of a deal. Now, she throws just when she is finished, whereas before she would throw everything immediately and/or sweep all the food off the tray.</p> <p>My mom is visiting for two weeks and told me to stop saying "uh oh" and "no" and to just ignore her throwing completely. Which is hard for me...extremely hard.</p> <p>And the first few times, LO swept the whole tray with her arm and got half the food off...but I didn't make a sound or face, didn't look at the food...basically no positive/negative reinforcement....and after a few meals like that, she has stopped!</p> <p>These cheeky kids.
