He's 7 weeks today and nurses for about 40 minutes. I would love for him to be more efficient! He also eats at a short interval in between feedings - an hour and 40 minutes

9 months and about 3-4 minutes on one side, and he only takes one side at a time. When he was a newborn, he nursed about 7-8 minutes on one side.

Interesting results, it really seems to vary based on age.

4.5 months and it depends on how awake he is!! If he's wide awake, it's about 6-12 minutes each side (usually longer the first side, shorter the second). But if he's taking a snooze while eating it's more like 30 minutes each side!

ETA: He eats every 3 hours, except at night (STTN ~7 hours)

LO is three weeks and does ten minutes on each side. Sometimes she'll go to twelve to fifteen minutes but then she doesn't eat as much from the second side so I try to discourage that because I don't want to pump more than I have to. She eats seven to nine times a day...every two to three hours during the day and usually longer stretches at night.

7 weeks and around 20 mins each side. She eats around every 3 hours--sometimes she eats from just one side and sizes off. Seems like out nursing sessions are getting longer rather than shorter so I hope she gets more efficient soon!

13 weeks and she's nursing about 5-10 mins on one side only, unless it's before bed when sometimes it can be up to 30 minutes! She's been an efficient nurser since birth though, no more than 10 minutes since she was a week or so.

15 mths & she has a really large range these days.. anywhere from 30 seconds to 30 minutes.

When she was bitty she always nursed under 10 minutes. Babies are really efficient at emptying the breast so as long as your lo is still having enough wet & dirty dipes there isn't any reason to worry they aren't getting enough. ;)

Kellymom has a great weight gain range page too (for when you have your los check ups)! It was really helpful with P since she's petite.... she was on the low side of weight gain, but still always in range. ;)

And how old are they? LO is 3 weeks, and he was nursing for 30-45 minutes, but lately he'll only eat for 15-20 minutes before he passes out. Still nursing every 2-3 hours though. I hope he is getting enough!

How about your LO?
