It seems too long. I would push to have it backdated at this point. And ask for a firm date of when you are getting it.

I'm in payroll and where I am it usually doesn't take more than a month for the paperwork to get to me to process.

Ours can take a while since each executive has to sign off on it and it winds up sitting on desks. But normally my boss won't tell me what's finalized till its signed off on. With that say they do give me back pay from the day it went into effect.

I would only expect it to take at most 2 pay periods. So like a month.
I've requested and received raises in the past and they were always reflected very quickly (2-4 weeks).

I agree our paperwork can be pretty slow, but 3-4 weeks is normal, 6 weeks maybe over summer or holidays.

@Lahela017: @T.H.O.U.: @MamaG: Thanks! Glad I am not just being crazy. A couple weeks ago I asked my supervisor about it being back dated and she advised that back dating it would require another round of approvals, which would ultimately delay it further. I am going to raise the issue with her on Monday again though, I usually am not very assertive but I think I am being taken advantage of at this point.

I agree, at this point I would ask about it being retroactive.

I would maybe ask about them back dating it. Just ask something simple like, Hey this seems to be a long time to get through all the paperwork. Will the raise be back dated to the time the raise was negotiated?

That seems like a really long time.... Usually it takes mine about 2-3 weeks to get through all the HR red tape and such, and then up to 2 weeks for me to actually get the paycheck with the new rate. So, I'd say anything over 6 weeks seems excessive.... I'd voice your concern again with your supervisor, or higher up manager, and politely say that you are getting quite frustrated and ask for a date when it will be resolved.

Just a bit of advice needed. To make a long story short, at the beginning of the summer I asked for a raise, which was pretty quickly verbally agreed upon both by HR and the management of my department. It's been about 8-10 weeks since then and I have yet to see the raise reflected in my pay. My direct supervisor has followed up a lot, and doesn't get a lot of information. I know the raise had to be approved by a few different departments so the feedback she gets from HR is usually something like "XYZ department is reviewing."

Personally, I feel like 8-10 weeks is excessive for something that was originally treated like it was not a big deal, but I have also never asked for a non-competitive raise before so I really don't know how long these kinds of things usually take. Any advice on how I should handle this? I am pretty much ready to go in with an ultimatum.
