I think it's MUCH easier if you don't show your face! I know that E is usually super upset and hysterical when I leave her with the sitter and then 5 minutes later, I get a text message with a happy baby. She'll figure it out...I look at it like ripping off a bandaid!

@meganmp: I was wondering about not popping in, it's a good point. However, I'm still EBF, and the babysitter is supposed to bring me the baby for feeds, so she will "know" that I'm there. (I've decided not to pump for the moment because DD is usually a fast nurser.)

It took all of them (kids and nanny) about a week. I wonder if it would be beneficial for you to not pop in- as hard as that might be with a screaming LO, it might be good for her to learn that the babysitter is going to be the one to console her, not you.

I started WAH again this week at almost 5 months PP. I have hired a part time babysitter for the mornings and today was her first day. The babysitter is also the cleaning lady, so my daughter has at least seen her around the house. The morning started off ok because they went out for a walk right away. But when they came back, my daughter became hysterical after a little while. I kept popping in to calm her down, but she was finally inconsolable and then sobbed in my arms and fell asleep. I know this is pretty normal, but how long did it take your young baby to get used to a caregiver? Any tips for the transition?
