Wow how do you deal with the engorgement, I think I would give in and pump after 24 hours. Currently I go 9 hours without pumping on the week day and it feels awful towards the end, the only thing that keeps me going is knowing I will get to pump eventually.

@skibobrown: You can try peppermint sage tea. Earth Mama Angel Baby makes one called No More Milk tea. Sage is supposed to stop milk production

With both kids, I continued to leak for a couple months after the initial engorgement period. My engorgement was really bad for like one day, then my production slowly decreased for about a month, but I still leaked (and had to wear nursing pads) for another 4-5 weeks after that.

Congratulations on making it 3 months despite your supply struggles. Unfortunately I never leaked beyond the first couple of weeks so I don't really know how long it took because when I stopped I was down to only nursing once a day (at night).
@Goldilocks1107: you may never get back to your pre-pregnancy size. After I stopped BF I stayed a both a cup and band size bigger.

@erwoo: Yeah, I was slowly tapering off at the end b/c DD was showing much less interest in BF-ing once she figured out that most of her food was coming from her formula bottle... and yet still I leak! It sounds like maybe I'll dry up completely in the next week or so...

I slowly nursed my son less and less in a span of a month's time so I think that helped but I'd say about 2 weeks for me too.

When I stopped pumping, it took about 2-3 weeks for me to completely stop leaking. It's over a month later and I'm still waiting for my boobs to get back to their pre-pregnancy size though.

So I entirely stopped breastfeeding a couple of weeks ago after going back to work. I had originally planned on EBF for a full year, but unfortunately my body didn't cooperate. I experienced extremely low supply all along, and had to supplement heavily with formula. Because I produced such a tiny amount of breastmilk, I decided that it wouldn't be worth it to pump when I went back to work. We made it to 3 months w/ breastfeeding plus formula supplementation, but then I stopped breastfeeding when I returned to work.

Well... now it's a couple of weeks later, and my milk still hasn't dried up. I leak throughout the day, and I still sometimes feel engorged and my breasts feel painful. I just want my milk to dry up already at this point.

If you stopped breastfeeding at some point, how long did it take for your milk to completely dry up?
