We usually do baths during the day so the actual bedtime routine is probably 30 minutes at most. Brush teeth, bath, chase around wet naked wild thing, diaper and pjs, books (3 or 4 and then just "one more another book"), songs and more songs, a drink of water, and one more song. But I don't have a problem with that. We read 2 good sized stories (takes around 10-15 min), then she goes potty, then one story in bed, tuck in, lights out. I let her watch one video bc honestly by that time I have to use the bathroom (36wk preggo here)... then i'll take her into my bed and let her lay there for 2 mins - I literally set the timer! I think she likes to do this bc before we transitioned to big girl bed we read books in my bed and then went into her room/crib. </p> <p>and the lay with me.. well how can you say no?? That includes brushing teeth, changing Logan's diaper, changing clothes, and then 15 minutes of reading stories and singing songs to Logan and then another 15 minutes of reading stories and singing songs to Xander.</p> <p>Although the routine is shorter when Hubs does it - only 30 minutes usually. The kids wind each other up and it takes half an hour just to get them to stop running out of the bathroom. E goes to bed right after her bath (she's the good sleeper now :grin: ) but B rolls around in bed demanding bedtime stories for another hour. I don't blame him, he can't possibly be getting enough exercise in day care, but there's nothing I can do about it right now and it's really frustrating. Last night it was 30 mins total. DS1 takes a lot longer. He likes to read books, chat, cuddle....and recently has demanded that we lay with him, which leads to a very long bed time and tears if we don't. We do 3 books but then he CANNOT fall asleep by himself (I am talking full panic meltdown if we try to leave the room before he is asleep). Once we are in his room, I read him books for maybe 10-15 minutes and then we sing 2 songs and pray and snuggle and I'm out. </p> <p>Baby is last feeding then 2 songs and prayers. </p> <p>The actual tucking in part for both boys is a few minutes. I would say the routine starts when he gets his last diaper change and jammies. He plays in his room for 30-45 minutes until he shows sleepy signs. We hold him in his chair and say prayers. He doesn't even tolerate a story! LOL. Then maybe a song or two, but we hold him until he falls asleep. That's a big chunk of the evening! When it's just me putting them to bed it's 15 minutes tops, so I know it's doable.</p> <p>How long is it from putting them in their bed, reading/singing songs to walking out of the room and they are actually settled? </p>
