The kid had 12 teeth (including his first set of molars) before he turned one! Actually, we switche dhim over to just one nap a day about three weeks ago, and all of a sudden his sleep dramatically improved. Like overnight. Suddenly he started sleeping through the night, like 12-13 hours a night! It's crazy! I'm not sure when I'll actually get sleep again. CC slept though the night from about 2-4.5... she got an ear infection in Dec and has only slept through the night 3-5 times since! AND WT has decided to stop sleeping through the night (he was always my guaranteed sleeper). I'm up 1-4 times a night usually between the two of them. I really don't mind the night time snuggles with her because she is so still and peaceful while she nurses (NOT STILL DUIRING THE DAY - EVER). Eventually I'll need to tackle helping her learn how to self soothe... but for some reason just not too concerned right now. The days she does nap, she's only sleeping about 9 or so hours. Ever since getting rid of his paci we've had problems getting him to settle into sleep. He either goes down right away with no fight... or takes 1-1.5 to get him down for a nap (and bedtime!). But once he's out - he sleeps 2-3 hrs. Right now he's at home with a nanny so he can do that but we'll be switching to an in-home provider next month and I'm VERY CURIOUS what the transition will do to his napping. There's 2 other boys his age there and I think they have 2-2.5 hrs scheduled for nap/resting. But if he doesn't actually go to sleep til an hour into it... he won't be getting a very long nap.</p> <p>If he refused to nap I'd probably aim for a 1-3 rest time... but wouldn't fight it much if he started begging to get out after 1.5 hrs.</p> <p>(Since he takes so long to go down at night right now and still gets up at 6am... he's only getting 9-10 hrs at night... which is why he's making up for it with 3 hr naps. If he slept 11-12 hrs at night I'd be less worried about naps. AH. Sleep. I'm thinking 1.5 hours for DD, since she still naps about half the time. </p>
