He had a bad latch even though I saw an LC several times. At 2 weeks it was better than at birth; 6 weeks was better than 2 weeks. We had every single problem imaginable - bad latch, milk came in late, low supply, thrush (for 8 wks straight), mastitis (twice) - and it wasn't until L was 3 or 4 months old that I really felt like we *finally* got the hang of it. She did amazingly. </p> <p>With DS (and the second kid), we kind of got the hang of it by 3 weeks, after sore bloody nipples, mastitis, and a poor latch. But, it never ever got better and by 3 months we stopped (supply issues, not a great latch, little weight gain). It took 6 months to really get comfortable and be able to figure out the side laying position.
