what @runsyellowlites: said, get on your hands and knees if you can, and water on the back could be really great. I also won't tell you how long my labour was, but good luck mama!!! You're doing great!!

Hands & Knees, letting your belly hang!!! Stay off your back at all cost, it'll help baby turn. Warm shower with the water at that part of your back & counter pressure!

I had alot of hours of 8-10 min apart contractions.... so long I won't say exactly. lol

The day before my due date, I started having super mild contractions 14 min apart around lunchtime. They didn't hurt but I'd started having the bloody show that morning so I knew they were real. They were between 10 and 20 min apart until around 7 pm when they were more like 9 - 10 min apart and getting a bit uncomfortable. I went to bed around ten and woke up at 1:00 am with contractions 7 min apart and moderately painful. By 7:00 am they were 4 - 5 min apart and painful, we called the hospital who said to hang out at home a while longer. By 10 am they were three min apart and very painful! Got to the hospital at 11 and I was only 3 cm, sigh. Contractions started coming one on top of the other with 30 seconds break between them, so I got the epidural at 1:30, baby was born at 9:26 pm.

Good luck today! Hope all goes well for you!

At about 38 weeks, I had a few an hour. At 38 weeks 3 days, I started getting 3-4 an hour. In the afternoon, I want to say they were about 10 minutes apart but I could still breathe through them. At about 4 p.m., they were 8 minutes apart. I went to the hospital then because I was already 4 cm, tested positive for GBS, and they knew my baby was small and labor could go fast. I got to the hospital at 6 p.m., but the contractions slowed when I got to the hospital! But, then I had some MONSTER contractions while in triage and by 8 p.m. I was 5 cm dilated....so the midwife "stirred things up" when she checked my dilation. From that point on the contractions were intense and came every 5 minutes. I got my epidural at midnight (don't ask me why I waited so long, I always planned to get one...) and then my water broke on its own. I gave birth at 6 a.m., though I felt the urge to push at probably 4 a.m....my midwife was in another delivery!

Also I remember going in and thinking "if this is early labor I'll never get through active labor"'but I was in transition. Back labor is confusing like that!

I had back labor and it took a couple days. The first time I went in and chose to go home again and wait for them to be more regular but they NEVER got completely regular. It can't hurt to call the dr and get checked up if you are in a ton of pain. By the time I gave in and went in, I still had just ha a contraction 12 mins apart and was going to wait longer. I didn't and 30 mins later I was at the hospital, 8 cm dilated!

Ummm YAY!

Back labour is harder, so hang in there, get lots of pressure on your back to help you through them!!!!

.....Will be thinking about you and hope things progress, clearly I have no actual advice for you, strictly ENVY! If that helps you through the pain at all....well....so be it!

I started feeling contractions at 10 pm and they were 3-4 minutes apart by midnight .... but they weren't very painful. I went to the hospital anyway because they were so close together and got sent home. Ended going back just an hour later.

Good luck!

@mandb36: I do have an appointment at 1pm so if mine are anything like yours: that'll be perfect timing:)

* also I am reading a few different places that back labor is harder to count and can "jump" around a bit more than normal contractions would...anyone have experience with back labor contractions being more sporadic? (mine are steady now but did jump from 10, 9, 10, 8, 9, 9, 8, 8, 10 and I am confused)

I'm not sure how far apart mine were in the beginning (9am-ish) but by 3pm they were 3 minutes apart and I didn't get into the triage until 6pm where they found out I was only 3cm dialated! I swear with that much pain I'd at least be a 4 or 5. But anyway GOOD LUCK TO YOU TODAY!!! So exciting :)

Mine started between 8-10 minutes apart at 6:45am. I started having a few around 5 minutes apart probably somewhere around 1:00pm. I called the doctor around 2-2:30 when they were consistently 3-5 minutes apart and they checked me at 3:15 and sent me to the hospital.

If there's an on call nurse or doctor you could always call them too. I called when my labor started because I all of a sudden freaked out and didn't know what to do.

I am having the most painful contractions I can imagine exist! It is 100% back labor and they are and have been consistently 8m apart for an hour...before that they were 9-10m apart for almost 1 hour. So I'm hitting the 2h mark with 1m long contractions (66s average) and I am wondering when they will be close enough that I can officially "call labor!"
My plan to to wait until 7:45am and call my OB to see if I can get checked there before going to hospital because I don't want to labor at the hospital for too long (I'd rather go and be somewhat progressed.
So at what interval did you contractions start and when did you get in the car & rush to L&D?
