C started sleeping 7-8 hours in her first stretch at 2-3 weeks old and we moved her then. It was completely painless, to be honest. We did it half the night at first. She would be in there until her first wakeup around 2/3am and then she would spend the rest of the night in her swing. After about a week or so, we started putting her back down in her crib.

We're still working on getting her into the crib, but she's been in her own room for about a week or two now (she's 15 weeks). We are all sleeping better this way!

We transitioned Xander to his crib at 3 months and he was sleeping around 6-7 hours at night. I think moving him to his own room was better because we stopped waking each other up!

We are needing to transition to the crib at 5.5 months (LO is getting too big for our arms-reach cosleeper). Right now he will sleep a 5-7 hour stretch. We tried it once last week and he was waking up every hour or two so we went back to our room and I've been trying to have him nap in the crib to get more used to it. I think we are going to try again this weekend.

@Bookworm: If you are worried about peace of mind, don't they have those Angel Care monitors that sets off an alarm if they stop breathing?

My mom told me about them the other day. I am thinking about getting one for when we make the transition.

He did actually sleep longer in the crib than in our room. I think he was sleeping about 4 hour chunks in our room and then started STTN in crib. BUT then the 4 month regression hit. Boo.

We transitioned to a crib at 3.5 months in order to sleep-train DD. She was only getting 2-4 hour stretches of sleep and it was getting out of control.

Probably only 4-hour stretches ... so I was still up at least twice a night. But I definitely slept better when he was in his own room. He was older, though. Like 11-12 weeks.

@cmomma17: I am lucky! We weren't planning on moving her for a while, but she started waking up at 430-5, and that point I don't mind getting up for the day, so I figure she's good to move.

@Pink Champagne: I think I might. It being the weekend, this is a good a time as any to try it out. I think it would definitely help *my* sleep, because every little noise wakes me up! I figure the monitor will keep the quiet noises away :p

We transitioned to the crib at around 8 weeks, so before LO was STTN, and it actually made everyone sleep better. Sooooo... Maybe just bite the bullet and do it?

My LO is 16 weeks and I haven't been able to bring myself to do this yet! He still wakes up 2x a night to nurse though, and it's just easier to grab him and bring him into bed.

Sounds like you've got a good little sleeper - lucky! :)

Over the last couple of weeks, G's sleep has gotten longer and longer at night. This week she started sleeping 7 hr stretches, and last night slept from 8:30-5! She's currently sleeping in our room in a PnP, and since we don't go to bed until 10 or 11, we are tiptoeing around her when we get ready for bed.

I want to start transitioning her to her crib at night, but I'm worried it will screw up this lovely, long sleep! I'm also worried I'm not ready for her to go at a little over 5 weeks!

What were y'alls experiences with moving LO to a crib/another room? Did it screw up their sleep? Or make you too paranoid to sleep?? I don't *have* to move her, so I'm really just looking to see what everyone's experience was!
