@Dandelion: oh, thanks! It feels kinda sharp and hard, so I've been worried that maybe it's bugging him and I should be giving tylenol. Instead maybe he just sucks at sleeping.

@gilmoregirl: Those are called epstein pearls. A lot of babies get them and they're not teething related. On M, there's 2 swollen tooth-shaped bumps on his lower gums. They only got more prominent in the past few weeks.

@Pumuckl: I have had a similar experience- she will show all signs of teething- cranky, interrupted sleep, chewing, drooling, then she just goes back to normal for a while, then it starts again and the bump shows up followed by the tooth pushing through. And every tooth is different it seems.

@Little Misters Mom: c seemed to be teething for a few weeks, but I couldn't see any bumps, then it just stopped. Weeks later, out of nowhere, no fussiness or anything, a tooth popped through. I do think if you can see the bumps it probably going to be soon though. It seems so cruel that little babies have to go through this!

@Dandelion: has M had the little bumps for two months too? B has one little white bump on his bottom gum and I keep thinking it must be the beginning of a tooth, but nothing's popped out in a few weeks now. I've tried giving him frozen washcloths, but the cold really wigs him out. He just chews on everything else.

@Little Misters Mom: Unfortunately there is no fits-all-answer to teething questions. With some kids it takes forever for the teeth to come in and others miraclously suddenly have teeth. For us it came in waves. There was some teething pain when the teeth started coming in and then it was good for a while and then again when they broke through.

Keeping my fingers crossed it will not be too long and too painful for you guys.

@Little Misters Mom: he's generally happy, but since the bumps showed up, he chews his hands so much. He's been chewing on his Sophie like crazy. He only gets spurts of crankiness for it, which is when I break out the frozen things.

For us, the pain seemed to last until the tooth pops out. :( Some days are better than others, but night time is always the worse. During the day, he was busy playing, eating, etc to keep his mind off of it.

M has been teething his bottom teeth for 2 months, now. They're now swollen bumps, so I'm hoping they'll pop out, soon.

I know 10.5 weeks is early but I am pretty sure this is early teething. He is biting his hands and my boobs, lots of drooling, way more fussy and crying, and increased night wakings. I think I can feel the beginnings of buds when I rub his bottom gums. I read the archives and it sounds like lots of babies have symptoms of teething weeks or even months before the tooth comes through. But does this mean I have a miserable fussy crank monster on my hands for months?! Is the pain intermittent and he'll will calm down or is it just like this until the tooth breaks through?
