For all sizes I keep the following on hand:

10-15 onesies
5-8 Sleepers/sleepnplays
6 pairs of cotton pants
10 tops
10 pairs of socks
2 Sweaters
1 Coat
2 hats

That rotation has always gotten me through about a week (5 days). I find I am doing laundry a couple of times a week and regarless of how much I have the same 10 things get worn again and again.

I also only keep things that I love because I've found that if I don't love them, I will not put him in them!

My daughter is over six months old and she's wearing a 0-3 sweater this morning. It depends on your baby, but she has been able to get a ton of use from her 3 month clothing.

We are JUST starting to grow out of 0-3 month now, and it's solely because DS is REALLY tall. He's 3 months old now and wearing 3-6m

We have a CRAP TON of 0-3 month clothes. I think that people don't want to give newborn because everybody says "they grow out of them so fast" but they don't think to give bigger sizes because they want something you can use right away/they can see LO in right away. We also got a ton of hand-me-downs from my boss whose second kid was 9 months old at the time so that was just the majority of stuff she had that they would no longer be using.

We used MAYBE 10% of the 0-3 month clothes we had! I would say about 12-15 onesies, 2-3 pairs of pants (worn infrequently), 5-6 rompers, 5-6 sleepers was what we cycled through. I just tended to have my favorites that I liked seeing him in so I did laundry more frequently because even though we had plenty of clean clothes, I didn't like what was left lol. And then you have to plan for blowouts, spitups, etc.

I probably changed my son's entire outfit at least 3 times a day the first few months because of spitup. Having lots of clothes the first few months will keep you from doing laundry all the time.

We moved out of newborn around a month because of the length. She has mostly Carter clothes,, since we got a lot from a friends daughter, and the 0-3 are big on her. I am guessing she is close to 11 lbs now at 8 weeks tomorrow. So I think she will be in them for a couple more months.

My LO is 50th % for weight but 90th for length and we use cloth diapers, so she was in 0-3 from 4 weeks to about 14 weeks. If we didn't cd, we could still be using some 0-3. I would just keep what you like or somewhat like, being more free with sleep and plays because those are so easy at that age!

I'd keep anything you like and donate the rest. DD was only in 0-3 for five weeks, but you'll never know until the baby arrives. We got a ton of hand me downs and even though she fit in stuff, if I didn't like it I never put her in it.

I almost exclusively had my baby in sleep and plays for the first four months. I did laundry every other day so we used 5 or 6 and they just got heavy wear.

It totally depends on the baby like everyone has said. I'd get rid of everything you don't love and keep the rest. A rotation of about 12 onesies, 8 sleepers, and assorted "fun" pieces would probably be fine. I have a ton too, but he doesn't ever wear half of it because I keep putting him in my favorites.

Mine wore them for months. She wasn't a spitter-upper or a leaker, though, so she only needed one outfit each day. I'd say keep 10 cute things out and bundle the rest up. Keep it until you have a better idea of how many you need per day.

I would just hold on to them until you know for sure. LO went through several outfits a day around that time (spit up, blow outs, leaky pee), and I was too tired to do laundry every 3 days so having a few extra outfits/sleepers/onesies was nice.

@knittylady: I would just keep them all and donate once you really don't need them. Of course seasonal stuff, you could probably get rid of right away.

K was in Carter's NB sizes for a good 6 weeks and could still fit everything without the feet now at 8 weeks. But she's growing like a weed suddenly and I worried that she'd grow out of her 0-3 stuff so fast, I just went and exchanged a couple of summer pieces for 3-6 months in hopes of her wearing them longer.

@runsyellowlites: That is so crazy how tiny P is!

My kids have all been in 0-3 until around 6 months. You never know you might get more use out of them then you think. And if your LO will go to daycare you can have a good stash there in case they have blowouts without having to take clothes in all the time.

It really all depends. At almost 13 months P still fits into most of her Carter's 3 mth onesies! She has a couple 9 month, things she's gotten new, but otherwise her wardrobe is full of 3mth.

DH and I bought a total of 4 trash bags FULL of baby clothes via craigslist. A huge majority are 0-3 months with 3-6 a distant second and then just a few newborn and 6-12 month sizes. We're super pumped to have saved money but are starting to think we have wayyyyy too many 0-3 months clothes. Isn't that a stage that lasts only a short while?

How many onesies, sleepers, pants shirts etc., do you think someone needs for the 0-3 month period? (Knowing of course that one brands 0-3 months is another brands newborn. sigh.) I want to cut down and donate our excess but I also don't want to screw myself over if I'm in a nice situation you know?
