I think 3-4 would have been fine. We also got a lot of washcloths. One was a pack of 20 or something like that. But I still ended up buying some myself because the gifted ones kind of suck. But we go through them like crazy, like reusable tissues. They are everywhere in our house and in bags. Spit up, drool, washing face and hands - there's always a need for our washcloths. If they are the thin ones I say return them all or maybe keep 1-2 (I found they absorbed so little that I wound up soaked when I used them.) If they are the thick ones I would keep them all especially if you plan to have more children. If you don't have another shower then you still have two towels per kid which seems like a good number.</p> <p>For washcloths, if you just plan on using them as washcloths it is far too many. We have more than that, but do enough laundry that they just don't get used. We do, however, use a TON of washcloths. I found the baby towels way too small as I wanted to really bundle and dry him well. For washcloths I would keep about a dozen. I think almost all of them are too thin to do much good. We just use regular towels. Same for the washcloths, too. Baby washcloths are just so flimsy, I didn't feel they were doing anything. We use one towel per kid, and it gets washed once a week. Ditto for the washcloths.</p> <p>Granted, now I feel like I'm being gross or something, and washing/drying my kids with filthy things. I was given 5 hooded towels and 24 washcloths (3 sets of washcloths). Is that too many towels and washcloths?</p> <p>How many towels do you really need? I wash our towels once a week, so I'm thinking I wouldn't wash baby's towels more than that, unless they got really gross for whatever reason </p>
