Mr. M didn't want us to get any holiday gifts for LM citing that our relatives will probably spoil her rotten, but we settled on 1 big gift (a Radio Flyer walker) and a few musical instruments.

Since LO is only 4 months old and doesn't understand the idea of presents, we're not planning on getting her anything specifically for Christmas. We're getting an exersaucer for her and I guess that is her gift?

I think when she gets bigger it'll be 1 or 2 gifts. We're wanting to teach her that it's better to give than to receive.

For Chanukah we do 8 gifts so she can have one each night. But 7 of them will be very small, and one big gift at the end.

We haven't discussed birthdays, but we'll probably just do one gift. She'll get enough from her grandparents, she doesn't need more.

We decided to wrap up a bunch of boxes and see if he is interested in those on Christmas morning. He's getting some new stuff, but most of it is under $50.

It's hard with his birthday and Christmas in the same month. We figure he'll get one big thing for his birthday and one for Christmas. He gets new toys and things to play with throughout the year, so I don't feel the need to overdo it.

As we got older, my parents did more of a "money limit" for each of us that was equal. If you asked for the iPod and the video games then yeah, you'd get less number-wise than the one asking for makeup and books. (comparing me and my brothers, lol)

I think when we have kids, the first few years before they remember we'll get them a lot of what we/they need and a few toys. Nothing huge. And then as they get older do more of the money limit thing because I like how my parents did it.

We're only buying a few things, because she has plenty already! Probably 4-5 smaller toys, an exersaucer or jumparoo and then stocking stuffers with practical stuff.

One big and one small thing. She is still young so it doesn't really matter to her anyway.

We normally only by just a couple of things. We will buy something "big" (he is getting a tool bench for Christmas), and then like 2 smaller things. Other people get him so much, and we don't want to over spoil him either. We do go through his toy box before and get rid of the toys he is no longer playing with, and to make room for new ones.

Mr. Bee and I were talking about what to get Charlie for his birthday this Saturday, and I was telling Mr. Bee most parents buy their kids lots of gifts for their birthdays and Christmas. We're trying hard not to spoil Charlie lately, because he did have too many toys (but I sold/gave away most of them).

How many gifts are you buying your LO for their birthday or Christmas?
