I registered for born free and dr browns too! My sister in-law suggested 8 bottles of each size...but what I did was registered for 8 each, but made sure that some of what i registered for were the single bottles. That way I could use the single bottles to see if baby girl preferred the born free or the dr. browns (because if you have the double pack or kit and you use one bottle and baby doesn't like that brand, then youre stuck with a package of bottles that you can't use).

I resisted buying a starter pack of bottles and followed the advice of just getting a few different ones until you know which ones baby will take. Although the starter packs are a great deal, there's the potential of being stuck with a bunch of bottles LO won't take.

Since you're registering, I'd register for a bunch of single bottles and a few starter packs you like - but like @Thehistoryofus said, don't open them so you can return or exchange them once you figure it out.

If you are going to BF then first I would make sure to have about 4-8 bottles that fit your pump. Then I would maybe have 2-3 other brands ready to try ( but leave in package). I would just buy singles of those or maybe two if having twins. You will end up going to BRU or somewhere in the first week or so and can get more if they are working or return if you find ones that work.

i bought two gift boxes of Playtex nursers that have the drop in liners. the gift boxes come with a variety of nipples and bottle sizes so I can see which ones work best for the baby and then decide from there. I really wanted to start out with these drop ins because I've heard glowing reviews about how much their reduce the amount of air newborns can suck in.

I'm interested to see the responses too, as quantity of bottles has me kind of stumped too!

We're definitely in the camp of spending a little more to have a higher quantity of things like textiles, diaper covers, bottles, etc. so we don't HAVE to do laundry & dishes quite as often if time doesn't allow with twins!

I would just get one or two different brands for now and then wait and see what the babies like best and how much breastfeeding you'll do. Sometimes they will not take the bottle we want them to use.

I didn't have twins and DS is mostly EBF, but I bought Dr. Browns (1), Nuby silicone nurser (1), and a had a free advent and medela bottles that came with my pump. When we introduced the bottle after the first month, we only used the Nuby (ended up getting a second later). I've never used any of the other bottles. We also switched to a larger 10 oz bottle and are now using a Pura stainless steel bottle, which I love and would get in the 5 oz for the next baby.

I am expecting twins and registering for my shower. I know I want to try both Dr. Browns & Born Free bottles but I can't figure out how many total bottles I need to purchase in advance and how many I will need to fill in the supply with. My hope is to breast feed at first but I don't know if it will be from me or a bottle. For those who's multiples have come already, what is your advice?
