We have four bottles, that LO drinks out of, we wash them every night. She drinks 4 5oz bottles during the 9.5-10 hours she is at daycare. I also have six bottles that I pump into, I also wash them and my pump parts every night. I considered buying more of everything so we could wash less often, but it's easier to me to just have less stuff and spend 10 min every night washing.

La Leche league says 1 to 1 1/2 ounces per hour you are awAy. Depending on the school they will throw any left overs away so you want more small bottles. Breast fed babies tend to eat less more often.

We just started daycare with our 12 week old daughter this week - and I was wondering these same questions so hopefully this helps.

We have 12 Medela bottles. I bring 4 bottles to work to pump into, and use those same bottles for her to bring to daycare the next day.

We send 3 4oz bottles to daycare (she is there 7:45-4:45). We started with 4 3oz bottles but after a couple days increased to 4 oz because she was eating every 2 hours there. Once we switched to 4 oz she was able to go 3 hours. I also gave them a few bags of frozen milk just in case she needs more than that.

We run the dishwasher every other night, every night would probably be ideal but it seems wasteful to me since its not full.

I had 60 oz in the freezer when I started, and had to use a few ounces this first week to top off the bottles I pumped, but I was also able to add all that I pumped on Friday to the stash so am still around 60 oz.

Good luck!

@CarrieLouWho: yep! But they've been wasting my milk, so it's probably not working. I think I'll start sending 1 5oz bottle and 4 3-3.5 oz and see if that's better.

We send LO to daycare with 3 bottles and 1 thermos of food. I take 2 bottles with me to work. I think we have around 10 bottles in total and I do the dishes every night by hand because I don't think the dishwasher gets the bottles clean enough.

@yellowbird - Ill be at work from 830-5, so 9-9.5 hours with travel and drop off/ pick up time. I've been using the medela bottles too and they work.
You said in another thread you were doing 4 5oz bottles per day right?

It really depends on how long you'll be gone! What are your hours? I find that pumping straight into the bottles she eats from help save washing and transferring time. Luckily she likes the bottles that came with the medela pump!

LO gets 2 bottles at daycare a day. We only have 4 bottles total because we run the dishwasher every night. Daycare also has back up milk in case LO is really hungry.

I had a significant freezer stash before I started work. It really helped me be less stressed about pumping at work.

Good luck!

LO will start daycare in a few weeks' she will be 12 weeks old. I'm EBF right now, so I'm trying to figure out the logistics for feeding. I plan on pumping at work and I've started building up a freezer stash. I'm supposed to send the bottles ready to go to daycare.

Here are my questions...
How many total bottles do you have?
How often do you do dishes?
How many bottles do you send to daycare?
Did you have a freezer stash before you went back to work? How much?
