First, an ultrasound and blood work confirmed that there were no major red flags, then Prometrium re-triggered my period, now my cycle is starting to normalize again (over the past two months or so). So though we've been "trying" it kind of feels like we haven't really been trying since we couldn't really time things (and it seems likely that I wasn't ovulating for most of the year). There hasn't been a month when I really thought I could be pregnant, so I haven't had the emotional roller coaster. If it turns out that I'm still not ovulating/we still don't conceive now that I'm "back to normal"? That'll get disappointing real fast.</p> <p>What is a little discouraging is the friends/family who've gotten pregnant since we started trying. I remember thinking when each one of them announced that surely I'd be pregnant by the time her baby came. Got my BFP on cycle 9 with the help of an RE and IUI.<br /> Was over two years ago and I still vividly remember the panic and depression I felt about TTC. There are people in the world who don't deserve kids or should keep their legs closed that get KU and people that really want kids and would be good parents have a hard time. I for sure was upset by the irregular cycles and confusion that surrounded my first 8 months of TTC. Then I found out I had PCOS. It didn't make it easier, but I definitely held on to a lot of hope for the Clomid cycles that followed. When we hit the 12 month mark, I was definitely discouraged. And now, at 21 months TTC (with two months NTNP), I'm surprised I am just now going to see an RE next month for the first time and a little shocked we haven't just talked about adoption. I agree with @Mrs. Oatmeal: you just start to feel disillusioned by it all. It hurts less, like you force yourself to believe this isn't your reality. But it still sucks. After 6 months I started to feel defeated. After 8 months I'd had enough and we took a break for month 9. The worst part was the intense feeling of failure every time I tested negative. At cycle 5, I started to get worried, but was KU at the next cycle. I had a miscarriage a few weeks later, so since trying again, it wasn't until I passed my EDD that it became more soul crushing.
