Since I used to be the person who let parents go on date nights, I saw firsthand how important it was for couples to have that time and was adamant that we find a sitter very early on since we don't have family in town. It's probably about once-twice a month, but SO wonderful. Now that my son is an older infant (9.5 months) and in a really regular bedtime routine, I have a few sitters that he's gotten used to that can put him to bed and hang out while he sleeps. We love our date nights! We always take advantage of when grandparents are visiting (they all live out of state) and we found a great babysitter when he was about 4 months old. We have gone away for a long weekend too, which was challenging but great! Our first was to celebrate a friend's bday maybe a few weeks after she was born. My MIL stayed over, so it worked out.
