LO was an average-sized baby at 7LBS, 6OZ. She stayed in NB for a month. I think we were in Size 1s until she was almost 4 months old. Now, at 6.5 months, we're in Size 2s. I think she'll be ready for size 3s in a couple weeks.

My LO was 7 lbs, 11 oz when he was born. He was actually put in 1's in the hospital since that's all they had, but they were pretty big on him (though, we never had a leak). We used newborns for about 2.5 weeks and then switched him back to 1's because he was getting red marks around his thighs and the 1's gave extra room for blowouts (gross, I know). We ended up giving the rest of our newborn diapers away, so I would say 100-150 newborns should be fine unless you have a very small baby.

My LO is still in 1's and he weighs about 11 pounds now, but he's pretty skinny for his age (12 weeks old). We go through about 50-60 diapers per week on average now. We're going to use the rest of a big box we got from Amazon (we have Prime and Amazon mom) and then switch him over to 2's towards the end of the month since I can tell the 1's are getting tight around his thighs again. We'll probably go through about 450 1's by the time we switch him.

Ok.... so initially DS went through AT LEAST 12 diapers/day.
Now he goes through 7/day. he is 16 weeks.
NBs lasted about 2 weeks (so 14*12= at least 168 NBs)
1s lasted through 8 weeks so 6 weeks of them (6weeks*7days/week*10ish diapers/day=420 size 1s)
2s he is about to grow out of, so through week 16--that's 8 weeks of size 2, or (8 weeks*7days/week*7diapers/day=392 size 2s).

RECAP: Unless your LO is super duper big, you need at least
168 NB
420 1s
392 2s
and apparently way more 3s because most babies grow slower after 3 months and 3s fit a large size range...

And my LO has grown freakishly fast so you will probably need more of each of those.

NOTE: we cloth diaper and we only used.... 20 NBs (from the hospital--we also went through a pack of ?#NBs at the hospital), 100 size 1s and a pack of size 2s (all gifted)

My son is now six months old and is in size 3. My daughter is 2 and a half and in size 4. I am amazed at HOW long they can be in the size 4's. I have no idea about how many I went through, but he was in size 1 for a little while (a month maybe), size 2 for a little longer (maybe two months) and size three for awhile. W didn't buy too many newborns because they only go up to ten pounds, and depending how big your baby is when they are born you might not need them long. So, after my verbose answer, I saw make a stockpile of size 3 and 4 because they are more expensive (closer to 27 cents a diaper instead of 19 cents, or something like that) and they can be in them for a long time. I think my daughter started size fours around her first birthday....

We went through nearly 500 NB diapers before she fit into size 1's--we have gone through 190 size 1's + 45 that we keep in the car and now she fits into both 1 and 2's. She's 3 months old now.

I've been stockpiling diapers since I found out I was pregnant. Being a crazy coupon lady it is only natural and I love to find a deal! I know it's different for every baby, but wanted to get a general idea on how many diapers is good to start? How many diapers did you go through a day? Here's what I have so far:
80 size 1s
144 size 2s
348 size 3s
280 size 4s

Oh, and I know there's always chance that these diapers won't work out (sizing, sensitivity issues, etc.) If that is the case I will be donating those to a local non-profit that helps out new moms so I'm not concerned about that, but at the same time I don't want to buy too many of each size to start. Advice is appreciated!
