They upped the antibiotics and finally kicked it. His first set of tubes was at 8 months old because not only was he getting them back to back but he was becoming resistant to the antibiotics so it wasn't worth trying to wait them out or treat them with medication, particularly when he was always full of fluid regardless of if it was infected or not and his hearing was down to 40% of normal so developmental delays were starting to become a concern. Within a week of his first set coming out like they were supposed to (20 months), he was already getting ear infections again. The pedi said there were no more antibiotics to be used effectively. She ended up getting tubes at that point.
