@ALV91711: My work schedule varies, but I try to keep her with me if there are no major errands to do. If I have a doctor's appt or need to go to the DMV, something like that, I'll take her to daycare for a short day.

@googly-eyes: I'm going to be doing drop off and hopefully it will work that DH can do pickup. But whoever picks him up it will only be a difference of less than half an hour.

@DillonLion: That's what sucks for us the most is that we have longish commutes and will make his day long.

@MaisyMay: I get one weekday off a month and plan on keeping him home even though we will still be paying. I think it will be nice to have an extra day at home together.

@sera_87: That is awesome that she will take him for free on the weekends.

I'm glad to see these long hours are normal. I know he will be fine, it just sucks that we pretty much won't get time with him during the week.

@googly-eyes: do not worry yourself too much about it. You have to do what you have to do. I highly doubt my LO would be affected if she were in daycare 1-2 hours longer a day. Most working parents have to have their children in care longer than 8 hours.

My husband works nights, so he can just wake up and get her at 4. If he found a day shift job I would not hesitate to have her stay longer so he could have a normal life!

@Smurfette: @Freckles: @yellowbird: Got it, thanks for the responses. I'm still just estimating because I don't start til the end of March, but it's kind of worrying me. I've worked in child care (but won't be for this job) and I remember how long some of the days were and the other teachers talking about how hard it was on the kids. I just don't have any other option if I'm going to work eight hours. I can't really live close to my work, it's out of my budget.

7-430 right now...I do drop off, DH does pick up. He gets off at 230 but comes home and studies and does homework before getting her after her nap. Dinner at about 530, bath right after, playtime, bottle at 7, bed between 7 and 730. DH and I each work 40 hour weeks

She loves daycare, though! So many little friends to play with and torment :)

She's open until 5:30 - I try to pick him up anywhere from 4:30 to 5:00, but it is nice to know that if I need it she's open later.

She also offered to take him free on the weekends if I ever am scheduled to work although I haven't taken her up on it yet since I haven't needed to. Those days would be 7:20-2:00.

We typically drop off between 8 and 9 AM and pick up around 5:45. To make this work, often one of us does dropoff and the other one does pickup. Otherwise her day would even be a little longer.

I drop him off between 7:15 and 7:30 and SO picks him up between 4:45 and 5:00. There were a few weeks this month when I had to do both because SO had surgery. Those days I dropped him off at the same time but he didn't get picked up until almost 5:30.

DH is able to pick him up kinda early because he starts work earlier than I do, usually around 6am.

Dd is going to attend from about 7-515. Dh doesn't work normal business hours so I'm in charge of both pick up and drop off. Actually dh is going to be working in another state for awhile and only in town maybe half the month so there will be a lot of sooo parenting. I don't know how dd is going to get enough night sleep either. I may be able to end up doing pickup half an hr earlier.
