@grizz: I think S has started doing this. She will wake after ~11hrs and then if we leave her (because we don't like getting up before 7am) she will often go back to sleep after about 30mins and sleep for another hour or more.

9-10 hours per night can be enough for some kids, but I think the rest of your schedule needs some tweaking. I agree with others who have said he's ready for one nap.

She is sleeping a lot better now that her latest tooth has popped through but she's also congested now so who knows how long the good sleeping with last.

Like PPs mentioned it sounds like he's ready to drop to 1 nap. We also ST/night weaned at 12.5 months while we moved to exclusively 1 nap and she started sleeping 13 hours straight through with a 2-4 hour nap. The transition stinks but once they get there, it's awesome.

LO is 18 months sleeps 8-6 on average, and naps from 1-3....

We transitioned to 1 nap around 14 months, maybe a bit earlier.,,, we noticed one nap (morning) getting shorter and shorter, it took a little time to adjust, and then the afternoon nap got longer and has stuck at 2 hours.

Septca- that's helpful, thanks!

I guess there's quite a range. My mommy gut says that 9 really isn't enough for him. If be happy with 10, but I think he probably needs closer to 11. Especially if we do push him to one nap.

Pumuckl - he hasn't been great at going for down for naps in his own pretty much ever. We had about a 3 week period where he did it, then he discovered how fun it was to throw his blanket and paci out of the crib. And scream for an hour off and on. But if I rock him, he's out in less than 5 mind. So yeah, I think he still benefits from that nap, but has some strong associations and preferences for some mama snuggle time. Lol!

Quick question related to naps (I know I'm getting sidetracked!) - how did you get LO to nap longer? Did they consolidate naps pretty easily, or did it take time? DS barely lasts beyond an hour in his crib for naps.

DD is 15.5 months, too! She sleeps 11.5-12.5 hours, usually 7:30-7:30. She just transitioned to one nap, and usually sleeps about 2.5-3 hours during the day as well.

The transition to one nap was not hard for us, exactly, but it took a loonnnnng time because we kind of let DD lead. Since about 13 months, she has gone through 2-3 day stretches where she will take one nap, but then she'd be back to 2 naps for a week or two... it was only recently that she dropped the morning nap except for once in a while. The key for us was taking her outside or to the park when she started getting fussy around 10:00 am. A change of scenary seems to recharge her until 12:00-1:00, when she goes down.

BTW - I added the novel about our one nap situation because it seems like DD STTN much better on one nap.
