So some days I work about 4 hours, but then I have days when deadlines are bumped up or are super tight and I'll work 8+. It all balances out later on.</p> <p>I used to work as a consultant and my bonus was based on "chargeability" so if I finished a project ahead of schedule, then I was "docked" for it because they orginially budgeted X number of hours and had already told the client they were getting billed for those hours. So when I finish ahead of schedule, then that's less hours they get to bill and while I was super productive, number wise, it looks like I wasn't productive at all.
