There are 40 houses in our neighborhood and I'd say about quarter of them were not home. We went to all the others. After that, both girls were feeling pretty over it. We did go outside, but LO1 only did 2 houses (not even super willingly) and then begged to go home. M is almost 4 and we met up with friends halfway through. We didn't hit every house on the street as some didn't seem to be home/participating. The girls rang the bell at a nicely decorated house around 5:30 and they promptly shut their lights off on us! He did maybe 15-20 houses, and was thrilled with that. DS2 was finished after about 10 houses. He lasted a lot longer than I expected him to! DH took him home and DS1 and I continued on with our neighbors. He went to about 20 total. We live on a giant hill, so going down it was super easy, he was fading as we were walking back up it on the other side and asked to go home once we made it to the neighbor's house. We stopped at the two on our culdesac that had lights on, then we drove to another neighborhood 5 mins away with huge elaborate setups. The houses weren't all that close to each other plus we ran into one of DS' teachers and they had a whole haunted house back yard. It is a zoo where we trick or treat, there are a few brownstone blocks that go ALL OUT; people come in from all over to trick or treat in an already crowded urban area. She's so little she just got run over. They're 2.5. I think DS would have done more, but DD was done. DH was going to keep going with DS, but he didn't want to do it without his sister. Turns out they loved handing out candy and seeing all the other kids' costumes much more than getting their own candy. We told him he could go to as many houses as he wanted and he was done.</p> <p>He got tonnes of candy, there weren't many kids out and he was being so polite so everyone gave him lots. </p>
