E was at nursery this morning and refused to nap. So far she has spent two half days at nursery and has slept a total of ZERO hours! Eek.

So she is on nap number one right now, in her cot. Her eyes were closed before I had left the room, she was so tired!!

She took a 2 hour in the am. Usually takes an hour in the afternoon but she decided to only nap on me and 30 mins. Let's hope snow day 3, is back to normal!

If she had been at day care, at most it would have been 45-60 in the am and 30-45 in the afternoon.

She's 5mths next week and goes back and forth between 2-3 naps. It all depends on the length of the first nap--if it's 30mins, then it's a 3 nap day, but if it's more like 2hrs, then it's a 2 nap day with the 2nd nap at 1pm. The 2nd nap of the day is almost always close to 2hrs.

DD is 9.5 months and takes two naps/day (has since about 6.5 months when she dropped the third nap). Morning nap was an hour long, afternoon nap lasted 90 minutes and then I had to wake her up so we could make it to swimming lessons on time :)

@lawbee11: We swaddle weaned around 4 months, no problems and it was much easier than I thought it would be....I think you're right, I need to let her fuss a bit after the first cycle. In the morning she wakes up so happy and alert, after her 30 min naps she wakes up cranky and pissed off so she's clearly still tired.

I think I need to do a hardcore nap training next week, where we skip our morning walks/baby group/swimming etc to stay home and get this nap thing under control. I'm magically just hoping that one day she gets it and takes a nice long nap in her crib, but clearly my praying plan hasn't worked so far!

Thanks :)

@char54: The fact that she sleeps fine in her crib at night makes me think it's more of an issue with her naps than the crib, but who knows. Is she still swaddled? I think swaddle weaning helped, but I also think that it was a developmental thing and so it just happened on its own. Once she was unswaddled I also started letting her fuss for 15-20 minutes if she woke early (I could tell she wasn't rested enough because she woke up unhappy). So I think that also helped her learn how to transition into her next sleep cycle.

@lawbee11: Thanks.. This gives me hope that some day decent naps will be back in my future. I may or may not have sent DH half sobbing texts throughout the day. She wakes up after 30 mins, is clearly still tired, I try to get her back down, she goes down for 10 minutes, repeat.....it's a vicious, inhumane cycle (for both of us)

She's 5 months old and naps went to crap the past week after the #@(!$% mamaroo broke. Not sure if I should keep trying to get her to nap in her crib, or go back to the mamaroo once the replacement is in?? I feel like it's time for her to nap in her crib, but will she extend them naturally on her own? Should I let her CIO once she wakes up after 30 min? It's so strange to me bc she used to be a great napper (in mamaroo) and still sleeps all night happily in her crib.

Sorry...DH worked late, came home for 15 mins, and went to play hockey. It's been a very.very.very.long.day

7.5 months and 2 naps. First one was about 2 hours, the other one was 45 minutes. Lately, he has been waking up and fussing in the middle of them.

@char54: My LO took 40-min naps from about 2 1/2-4 months. So she'd take 4-5 naps a day...it was awful. I'd often call my husband crying! At 4 months we turned a corner and it's SO much better!

naps are the bane of my existence lately :(

Our mamaroo (Where she takes 100% of her naps) broke so I thought it would be a great opportunity to have her nap in her crib. NOPE.

She will sleep MAX 30 mins in her crib. So today she took four 30 min naps. I'm used to a 1hr morning, 2hr aftn, and 30 min catnap in the evening. Girl HATES napping in her crib, which is odd because she STTN in her crib no problem.

Sigh. It will get better, right??

Three! First was at 10:30 and was only 22 min. :(. Second at 1 was 1.5 hours (and the heavens open and the angels sing). The third was a car nap and only 35 min (but that's good for her at the end of the day.

Usually she takes about 3 naps a day if they're good, if they're short naps she can take up to 5 in a day.

And how long were they? LO is 6 months old and has been going back and forth between 2 and 3 naps lately. But she decided to wake up at 5:45 for the day, so today was a 3 nap day!

Her morning and afternoon naps were each 1 1/2 hours, and she took an hour-long nap around noon.
