It will depend on the size and shape of your baby (we actually ended up using 2 big boxes of NB size even though my baby was 9lb3oz and she was in size 1 for about 2 months after that.

One pack newborns and one pack size 1s. I think we were in newborns for a week.

We went through 400 NB, 500 size 1s and 650 size 2 diapers. I'm a bit wonky about recording everything. She was 7,1 at birth.

We never used newborn - he went straight into 1s. He's 3 months old and in size 3s.
Sooooo, no newborn and he was in 1s for the first month.

We used a box of 128 newborn pampers and half a box of Huggies (not sure how many) before switching to cloth at one month. My son was 8lbs at birth and is now 9 lb 5 oz. We have a small pack of size 1's for travel and have used a few of those too.

I'd get a big pack of 1s and a small pack of newborn. We used NB for months with my (5 lb) baby but I know that some people never need them!

We only used the NB that the hospital sent home with us. Then we used 1s for about 6 weeks (maybe 4 big boxes?) and went to 2s.

I just bought a pack each of NB and 1's, and I plan on seeing which size would be better once LO gets here. Then I'll get on Amazon and order the size I need. :)

We used NB for probably 4-5 weeks. At that point we moved to size 1s and that's also when she fit into BG 4.0s (smallest rise/snaps). At almost 4.5 months were just switching over to size 2s (and we gave up CDing, oops).

Not much advice but get a big pack of each, that way you're prepared, and worst case you can return the NB for 1s!

We transitioned to cloth diapers around the 9th week. LO was long and skinny and fit into newborn diapers until shortly before that time. I don't remember how many disposables we went through!

We skipped newborns after the ones the hospital provided didn't fit. I'd get one big box of ones, see how big your baby is and then get what you need.

H wore NB size diapers for four weeks and moved up to size one at one month. She's been in size two diapers since she was 2 months old. We cloth diaper during the day, so a box of diapers lasts us a long time. I'd probably buy a box of NB (not the value box), and a box of size 1 diapers just to have on hand.

We didn't use NB at all. They had size ones in the hospital and that is what we started with. We have gone through probably 500 size ones so far.

We are halfway thru out 2nd size 1 diaper bundle from honest. DD2 is 10wks and weighs 12.5lbs. Our next bundle wil be size 2. We are also transitioning to p/t CDing. Her legs were too skinny before. Hope that helps.

We used newborn diapers for the first month. We had to get more than what we had because we assumed he wouldn't be in them long (he was almost 9 lbs at birth, but fairly short). He's 4 months old today and still in size 1s, but we're probably going to be moving to size 2 soon.

I would buy one box of size 1 and see how big your baby is before buying more (it's super easy to have your husband or visiting friend/relative run to Target or to order on amazon once the baby is here). The hospital will provide you with a bunch of NB diapers (take the extras home).

I don't cloth diaper, but just in terms of sizing, C was in newborn for at least a month, but I think that's a little unusual. I'd buy one pack of each, like the 96 count or whatever, and then reevaluate. In the really early days we were going through like 10 diapers a day at least (but we also had some user error, peeing on the changing table, etc!).

We're probably going to cloth diaper at least part time using one-size diapers, but we plan on using disposables until the little dude fits into the cloth.

How many disposables and what sizes (newborn? 1? 2?) will I need before the transition to cloth is likely to occur?

I know every baby is different, but as a FTM, I have no clue, so a ballpark would be great!
