Lo dropped her night feed at twelve weeks. She'll pick it back up around wonder weeks but generally sleeps 11-12 hours without eating.

My ped said to drop the night feeds at 2 months which was way too early for me. We tried at 3 and 4 months and that was a big fat failure because she cried for hours. At 6 months she was ready and it took her 45 mins to CIO and she sttn the next night onwards. It got messed up a couple times because we were traveling and whatever but to re-train usually takes one night and 45 mins of crying. I don't know if you are up for sleep training but sometimes you can see quick results!

I would ask your pediatrician... My LO dropped any night feedings around 4-5 months old and was STTN then.. I would imagine that unless your LO has any weight issues, you should probably drop that night feed. At that age, they don't "need" it as much as its a habit for them. Best of luck to you and everyone getting a full night's sleep! :)

Most nights DS sleeps at 5:30p and wakes at 6:30am.
Once in a while (usually when he sleeps later) he'll wake up around 3:30 to eat.

LO woke up once or sometimes twice in the middle of the night for feedings at 7 months. After he turned 1 he started to sleep through the night on his own.

@MamaBehr: thanks! i think she would feel more rested having slept through the entire night too

@Mrs. Tricycle: yea, i imagine it would be hard to cut back if he isnt gaining much weight. FWIW I know my LO's weight has slowed down tremendously from 5-8 months, I think she only gained a pound. My ped wasnt worried though bc he said weight gain slows a lot after 6 months. she is still in the 90% though.

@hilsy85: ooo that's exciting he STTN on his own though! teething sucks! hopefully he will go back to STTN and you wont have to worry about weaning. I hear ya though- I just dont know if I have it in me to try and work on her 1 night feed since it isnt that hard and only takes 5 mins, seems easier just to try and let her drop it on her own

@MerryC: oh yea, i remember reading your sleep training story- i believe your were sttn after like a day or so right?

@autumn865: lol, so true!! it seems like something always comes up- teething, ww, growth spurt, milestone...

@hellobeeboston: that is awesome!! did he cry for long or no? i think we need to up the solids too...she still doesnt eat that much so maybe once she does she will cut that motn feed

@NovBaby1112: hey! We did the one night feed until 7.5 months then the pediatrician recommended stopping -- we were lucky and it took like 2 or 3 nights and he slept through - he basically ate in his sleep and it was just routine so it wasn't that hard to stop. We also made sure he was eating more solids during the day too.

She usually woke up once at 3am or so for a quick feed. Now at 11 months she cut that feeding out in her own but last night a new tooth cut through and she was up at 4 to eat. Baby sleep here is always changing! We will see how tonight is!

Ours were still going strong at 2-3 feeds at that age. Our ped gave the ok to cut them off at their 9 mo checkup (they are big). We night weaned as part of our sleep training at 10 months and they have sttn since then. We wanted to let them get as robust as possible, esp through the winter cold and flu season, and give them a good chance to figure it out themselves, but it just wasn't happening.

LO is 9 months and he usually wakes once to nurse overnight...I know he CAN go all night without eating, because he's done it a few times on his own (in fact I was hopeful that he was on his way to cutting out his overnight feed alltogether because he STTN completely a few times, but then teething hit). So I guess I plan to keep one nurse overnight for maybe another month? I don't know...I don't want to deal with night weaning, but I know he doesn't really need it...so I'm conflicted.

At 8 months, he still eats somewhere between 1:45 AM and 2:30 AM, and then again at 4:30 AM. I'd live to cut back, but he's struggling to gain any weight, so I'm sticking with it for now.

I remember stopping the night feeds somewhere around 6-8 months old (can't remember exactly anymore). It was tough though, because both of mine were so use to getting up to feed then. But once we were through the hard part they were so much happier because they were getting better sleep at night!

just curious how many night feeds your LO had around 8/9 months and when they started STTN without needing one? LO is 8.5 months and still nurses once overnight, wondering when she might be able to go all night without a feeding.
