I bought 1 avent and 1 playtex drop in - the IBCLC that I worked with suggested the playtex drop in because it has the least amount of 'drip' and you can squeeze all the air out. I am a FT WOHM and we have 6 bottles. He drinks 3-4 bottles while I am at work. We don't have a dishwasher so I was fine with a few because I was going to have to wash them nightly anyway. If we had a dishwasher I would have bought 8 (enough for 2days)

Most days LO was in a sleep & play or onesie and a pair of carters cotton pants. We had about 4 pairs of pants. A friend of mine gave me some really good advice - you really only need about 6-8 sleepers/pants because you're washing like everyother day and regardless you always grab whatever is on top.

I put socks on LO from day 1 - it freaked me out when we wasn't wearing them. We had probably a 6 pairs because I didn't change them everyday.

I did stock up on onesies (carters brand) everyone is different but I still put a onesie under everything LO wears. I figure I always wear a tank and DH always wears an undershirt so LO should too! I always hated the thought of anything rubbing up against his little chest.

I would wait on buying too many bottles. Just buy a couple and see how your LO likes them. I think when my son was born we had 1 Dr. Brown bottle and 1 tommee tippee bottle. My son lived in sleepers 24/7 when he was a newborn. I think we had 10, but he was born in October and it started cooling down. He didn't wear too many socks. I think just a couple pairs would suffice.

Bottles: I liked having 8 bottles when DS was a newborn and eating more often. We have 6 now that he's down to 5/day. Like @mamamoose said, it's nice having a couple extras so you're not always washing them. I started DS on Avent bottles and never had a problem.

Clothes/socks: I do DS's laundry every 3-4 days, so I don't find that I need too much at once. I've always gotten by with 5-6 onesies (however many come in a pack), 8 pairs of socks (DS wore a lot of sleep & plays anyways), and 4 gowns to sleep in. I wouldn't stock up too much because you'll find you have favorites and either buy more of those or use the same 3 all the time!

I had 6 bottles; they came home each night so I washed and reused. They suggested keeping 2 spare outfits at the center but at that age we sometimes went through 2-3 outfits a day so I bought (dedicated) 2 sleep & play and 2 onsie/pant sets. I bought a pack of socks (I think there were 10 pairs) and just left them there as well. The daycare was really good about giving me a heads up if I needed to bring in more of something (if for example I hadn't been paying attention and all the socks had migrated home).

Are you planning to breastfeed?

Bottles: I have a Medela pump, which I can screw Medela bottles onto really easily. So half of our bottles are Medela (have 11 of those, since I pump at work, we use all of them) and the other half are Avent (have 10ish of those) because I like that they more closely resemble the boob. I didn't buy those all at once. We sort of accumulated them over time. Bought a couple here. A few there. etc.

Sleepers/Gowns: LO wears sleepers if we are hanging around the house. We used them a lot when she was first born since we weren't out and about that much of the day. We have always had about 7 in her current size, which was more than enough.

Now that it is getting warmer I'm more comfortable just keeping her in a onesie and socks. She sleeps in nothing but a diaper and a fleece Halo sleep sack. We have two sleep sacks that we use. She sleeps in the same one for the first half of the week and the other one for the second half (as long as she doesn't have a diaper blowout in it or whatever) we wash both on Sundays.

Socks: We have a lot of socks and use them every day (15+ pairs?). I most often put her in the trumpette socks that resemble shoes.

Bottles: I would wait on bottles until you know which ones your LO likes. You might want to purchase a sample of some of the more popular brands (Dr Browns, Avent, etc) and see which ones your LO prefers.

I am a SAHM so didn't really have a need for bottles, but for the couple months I was trying to get LO used to a bottle, I found 4-5 bottles was plenty.

Sleepers/gowns: We didn't use gowns. LO basically lived in footed PJs for the first three months of her life. There were lots of spit ups and blow outs in the early days, so some days I went through three footed PJs a day. I found having about 15 sleepers in both cotton and fleece were plenty. This way, I could do laundry every other day (I still had to do laundry frequently b/c I didn't want the stains to set).

Socks: Didn't have much use for socks in the beginning (first 2- 3 months) since LO lived in the footed PJs. I bought one six-pack and that was more than plenty. She basically only wore them when we took her out and she wore real "outfits."

We were good with 5-6 bottles and maybe 10 pair of socks? No sleep sacks for us, we did a traditional swaddle. I agree with PPs in that you don't want to stock up on things like bottles until you know what your LO will take/like. We didn't need many bottles because DS only took bottles at daycare and I nursed him the rest of the time and we did dishes every day. Also, daycare provided all blankets and bibs and such so we didn't have to provide more than a few changes of clothes and bottles of milk as needed.

@grizz: We ended up with more bottles than we needed because we bought a few different brands. Tommee Tippee ended up being our favorite (it has a really wide nipple so I like that it is most similar to my breast shape, and LO takes them really well). My daughter started day care at 15 weeks last Monday and I find that having 6 TT bottles is perfect. She takes 3 four ounce bottles every day so when I get home I have 3 clean bottles to put my pumped milk in, and then later that night I can wash the other 3 that got used that day and then leave them on the drying rack for when I get home the next day. We certainly could make do just fine with only 3 bottles but it's nice to not have to immediately clean and dry the bottles in order to get them filled back up to go to day care the next morning.

Can't speak to daycare bc I am a SAHM but you might wait to see what type your LO likes before stocking up. Sleepers and docks depends how often you want to do laundry. He lives in sleep and plays but I do so much laundry with burp rags and my clothes that we are fine with five or six.

I am so lost on the number of things I need for baby! The things I am stuck on are bottles, sleepers/gowns, and socks. Since Baby Grizz will be starting daycare part time at around 16 weeks, we will be sending bottles with him. I just don't know how many to get!

Same with socks and sleepers. I don't know how many of each to get. Can anyone share what number worked for them?
